Title: Sql server repository
Post by: shaul on November 01, 2010, 10:24:49 pm
I tried to move EA files to SQL server repository.
It seemed that I need to create a new database for each EA file that I want to move.  Is that true???
When trying to export EAP file to sql server that already contains other EAP file it warns that all data will be lost!

How can i create ONE database for all the EA files in my organization?

Try it using Export and Import package  (XMI).

Well, far as I can recall, yes what you seemed is true.
EA (and for that, UML) is, for want of a better way to explain this, is like a single model based approach.  Sort of like a building blueprint, it has no history nor can you "integrate" an EA/UML "plan" on or into a civic or enterprise model.

But, BTW, why would you "want" to have ONE database for all the EA IT designs in your organization?

To ease the pain, transfer the largest .eap file to the database, and then use XMI export/import for the others.
