Did they examine the way software is developed at Sparx or is it just the tool being used in software development?

No idea, but you'd have to guess the latter would you not ...
Having said that, I not sure its so much the way software is being developed, as about the transparency, customer involvement, EAUI decisions, choice of features implemented and not implemented, and konsistensy and lack of orthogonality.
Its my impression that there is improvement over time, there is certainly for the most part responsive customer support.

:-) Funny though how these awards are given away. Anyway, a hard to use tool will give me more opportunities for consulting than an intuitive one.
