Title: Report on object by diagram
Post by: sberke on May 25, 2007, 05:38:37 am
It would be great if EA had the capability generate a report that documents only objects that exist in a specific diagram.

It's possible, but not particularly easy to find.

To do it, select your diagram in the Project Browser, and then select View | Report and Search View.

Select all (Ctrl+A), right click, RTF Report | Generate one report for all selected.

What is the equivalent in 7.0 Simon?

Select 'Element List' instead of 'Report and Search View'.  Also Ctrl+A doesn't appear to work in the element list.  (I'll speak the relevant developer about that)

What about "Report on object by selection"?  Does anyone know how to do that?

Basically, I'd like to select a handful of objects in the project browser and generate a report on that.  Obviously, if I could get those selected items in the "Report and Search View" then I could follow the same report steps as here.  Does anyone know how to select some objects and then dump them into the "Report and Search View?"

The report view also allows you to view the contents of a package.  So you can do the same thing, but not select everything.

What about items that may be across different packages?  Is the quickest thing to just temporarily drop them on a diagram and then proceed as described above?
