Hello,

I very often miss being able to attach a note with a notelink to a message in a sequence diagram.

That would be very helpful to us.

I missed some very important thing in my posting: Existing.

I meant to link an exisiting note to a message.

Try to copy/paste from the old diagram. That usually works with notes to elements and edges.

thank you for your reply.

I still was not able to express what I meant I think.

I have a sequence diagram.
I have a (existing) note in this sequence diagram.
This note is currently not linked to a message.

I want to link the existing note in this diagram, to an
existing message in this diagram.

I am not able to do that.

Hi Michael,

Unfortunately due to EAUI (see Thomas Killian's postings for explanation), you can't do it...

For reasons that appear valid only on planet Sparx, EA uses at two distinct mechanisms for note attachments.  You can attach an edge (line) attached note to a vertex (shape) via an additional but NOT the reverse.  

So... to connect the same note to both edges and vertexes, you need to start with an edge connected note. Create a new one, then copy and paste the text from the original and then transfer any note links to the new one.

yes, I know that it is not possible. Therefore I wrote that I am missing that feature.

Your workaround doesn't help in all cases.

It is not possible to attach one single existing note to more than one message.

Because your are an Guru, may be you know whether a feature request was already done for that.

I think this is a very simple problem  and it even should be simple on the yet unknown to me sparx planet.

If you do what I did, you can then right-click on the note and then use Advanced>Set Attached links to connect to more than one edge...

This is part of EA's intuitive UI...

What a tremendous feature.
And you are absolutly right.
That's pretty intuitive.

There must be an feature request, isn't it?

It's a pain doing it this way and it contradicts every usability.

Please Sparxians: provide a way to do it direcly via mouse.
This is a negative example.
