Title: Ability to customize DDL generation templates
Post by: mover on December 05, 2008, 06:58:16 am
I seem to recall asking a while ago about this and being told that the database script generation templates were hard coded and not editable (unlike the code templates). I'd like to request this ability.

What we'd like to be able to do is use specific properties in the EA data model to generate scripts to create SQL-Server extended properties along with the table creation scripts.

Thanks!

Hi Mover,

Assuming you mean you want to be able to tweak how EA generates DDL from a data model, you are correct. EA does not 'open' this feature to users.

If this is what you want, I strongly urge you to send a feature request directly to Sparx. Use the Feature Request link near the bottom of any forum page [I.e. I am not referring to posting in the forum, but filling out the Feature Request form and sending it to Sparx.] This feature has often been mentioned by users, but would require considerable work by Sparx. If enough of us request it - directly to Sparx instead of (or in addition to) mentioning it in this user forum - then it just might make the grade for a future version of EA.
