Title: Classifier Symbols: Hide All But Name Compartment
Post by: Edward Stow on March 26, 2009, 12:14:07 pm
Hi,
UML classifier symbols (Class symbols etc) can consist of only the name compartment.  I find this very useful when I want to hide the detail during conceptual modelling and adding a class from an external package for example.

I would like to be able to hide  the extra compartment from class symbols that EA by default displays.

Refer to http://www.omg.org/spec/UML/2.2/Superstructure/PDF/
Figure 7.28 (pdf page 67) for examples of the class notation with only the name compartment.

Oh yes please!

I've asked for this in the deep dark past, but to no avail. Now that UML 2.2 (more publicly) contemplates this notation, perhaps it is time for EA to provide for it.

UML  (from UML 0.8 to my knowledge) has allowed class / classifier symbols with only the name compartment.   The UML tool that I am most familiar (Rational Rose) supported this notation from the very start.

Yes Edward, that has always been a valid notation option.
