bumping a question from 2010 to see if anything has changed.
I have made a search definition, and I want to share it amongst my collegues. What is the way to do this?
Original post (http://Original post http://sparxsystems.com/forums/smf/index.php/topic,29221.msg216524.html)
The option shared from the original post included:
- Manually via import/export
- Define in MDG Technology
Hoping these is a better way when using a DBMS.

Hi,
you may have a look on the free and open source EA Addin hoTools.
You find it in the EA Community http://community.sparxsystems.com/community-resources/977-hotools-sql-with-tabbed-editing-macros-templates (http://community.sparxsystems.com/community-resources/977-hotools-sql-with-tabbed-editing-macros-templates) and on GitHub.
The main features related to SQL are:
- SQL in file system
- A lot of Macros to access EA elements
- A lot of Templates to make an easy start
- Results in EA Model Search
- Tabbed Editing

You can now import MDG's into a EA Model, which for me is now the way to share SQL Searches.
We've even made some MDG's containing only a searches because they get their own category on the model search.
And createing MDG's is now a simple point and click wizard (as opposed to manually editing xml files)

Thank you both for the response.
I'll look at the MDG based solution.
Thank you
