Title: WebEA as an Azure WebApp
Post by: Paul@IPA on February 07, 2018, 10:32:20 am
Hi
We have been trialling Pro Cloud Server Express and using Microsoft Azure as IaaS.
WebEA is part of that install and to be used needs to be loaded into a web server - per the instructions we have used XAMPP.
All works as per instructions.

Our preference here when moving things to the cloud is to use PaaS.
For Pro Cloud Server Express this would mean PHP PaaS for WebEA, Container-aaS for Pro Cloud server and DBaaS for the database.

We have successfully deployed the WebEA PHP site to Azure WebApp with out doing anything more than follow these instructions https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/app-service/app-service-web-get-started-php (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/app-service/app-service-web-get-started-php)

Next is to try DBaaS - Azure provides the options of SQL Express, MySQL and MS SQL
Decided to use Azure SQL Database option as we use MS SQL server - these were the documentation pages I used
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-gb/azure/sql-database/sql-database-get-started-portal (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-gb/azure/sql-database/sql-database-get-started-portal)
From there it was just a matter of following the existing Sparx EA instructions for MS SQL repositories.
We were successful in connecting Sparx EA V13.5 client directly and via a ProCLoud Server and also using WebEA

I queried Sparx about the containerisation of the Pro Cloud Server and it's not on their roadmap.

Any suggestions appreciated as I haven't done this bit before ???

Thanks

Paul
