Hello
I'm really tired with situation of bugs remaining unresolved for long period of time.
With EA v14, the serious issues has been introduced. For example, making impossible to update database model by comparing its current state with database. In such case Type of imported object is Table anymore. Instead it's Class. The consequence is, it is not linked with Database Builder, effectively it's not seen as part of model after importing. Moreover, in object properties, there is no "Table" type available in , so manual change is impossible (or I don't know how to achieve it).
This and more issues I was reporting months ago. I did my homework, narrowing issues down, preping test case scenarios to them reproducible by Sparx team.
All are confirmed and got assigned issue numbers. But till today remains not fixed (even with v14.1 beta). We are on hold due to those bugs.
I thought, fixing critical, breaking functionality issues, should be put on top of priority list. Am I wrong? Isn't it we are paying for a support? What is the point of paying annual fee, if fixes to show stoppers are delivered after such long time?
Is someone right here who has insight into Sparx ticketing system or can help us with speeding up issue fix delivery, issue numbers are: 18048589, 18017982, 18038571, 18058884.
I would appreciate any help.
BTW where can I get activation code for v14.1beta? The one valid for v14 doesn't work with v14.1 beta (Sparx pages don't list one)
-
The activation code is shown on your registered user download side.
Regarding the bug fixing: it will never change. It's been a mystery ever since. I gave up with that (skiwi obviously too). Also I don't know why I paid the registration for the last two years. Versions got worse each time. Can I have my money back (just a rhetoric question)?

Yes, it is, but for v14. It doesn't work for v14.1 beta

In EA 14, open the about dialog. It tells you when your activation code is valid until. I'm guessing it has expired.

Like not properly handling transparency of PNGs?

Agreed, My v14 code worked with the 14.1 beta and DOES include the expiry date.
(Had me worried at first! ;))

"Get a code" link available in EA opens "registered user" www page.
I can access it, but the code displayed here, doesn't apply for v14.1
How can I get valid activation code?
I've read all possible articles about it, including license information and EULA and found nothing useful.
Right now I've asked our support dept to confirm validity of our license. However, regarding license information, non renewed license would lead to disabled access to "registered user" page, which is not my case.
Regarding bugs and so, EA struggling with transparent PNGs might be irritating, but doesn't break functionality. In my OP I'm mentioning show stoppers which makes particular functionality we are dependent on broken. Curious is, we are paying license renewal to get newer version, but due to it has been delivered broken, we have to stick with v13.5. So... what we are paying for?

You might contact Sparx sales regarding the code.

Bugs - I hear you man.
I can say Sparx Systems does tend to
a) respond quickly and acknowledge bugs
b) never commits to when they will be fixed but often fix things I've raised within a 6 months.
I guess sometimes its more interesting for developers to add new features than it is to fix bugs.

New features could drive sales. A bug that gets very few reports - beyond the mavens here - probably are not cost effective to fix outside of when the code that contains them is being refactored.

Good point.
Wonder how many reports they got on PNG transparency issue.

Not enough :-) It's got better. Now I can save the diagram to a file and use it fine. I just can't use the clipboard. It's not great on putting labels onto an alternative image but now I can create some very pretty pictures.

Agreed, and Support are effective in reproducing issues, and often providing good work arounds.
It's been my observation that by and large the quality of EA has consistently improved.
For example in my early days of usage the app was known to crash or go into hard loops, and we had discussions about phone home bug reporting.
I haven't seen EA crash or hang for quite a while.
Thats not to say there aren't a number of enhancements I'd like to see (go back to the threads about diagrams on EA 8 or 9 for example), but it is my go to tool (sorry Vision, sorry Word)
