Title: Internal Requirements
Post by: skiwi on July 13, 2020, 12:15:28 pm

A "Requirement (https://www.sparxsystems.com/enterprise_architect_user_guide/15.2/model_domains/requirements.html)" can have Internal "Requirements" (https://sparxsystems.com/enterprise_architect_user_guide/15.2/model_domains/internalrequirements.html).
At first glance this is a useful idea, to break a requirement down.
But head off the the Specification Manager (https://www.sparxsystems.com/enterprise_architect_user_guide/15.2/guidebooks/tools_ba_specification_manager.html), and they can't be seen, or edited.
In fact they are not visible in the Browser pane either, and its hard from the Specification Manager to open the properties window to edit them.

I have requested a feature to be able to view/edit them in the Specification Manager.

It's the old "all requirements are equal, but some are more equal than others"  problem.

Fortunately in their wisdom (thanks for the heads up Sparx Support) a means of extracting you from the "this looks like a useful feature to use" hole you have dug, viz

Just a bit more information that might help.

The internal requirements perhaps should be thought of as the Responsibilities that an element should assume, and are properties of the element. These topics explain a bit more about the responsibilities or internal requirements of an element, the last being a list of searches that include (in the Requirements table) a search for elements having internal requirements. (And I am trying to work out why there are element discussion reports in that table; seems a bit strange.)

A good requirement requires (!) to be Atomic. See the charactersitics down in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Requirement (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Requirement).
