It says that MacOSX is supported. But since Catalina (1.5 year old version) it does not support old and now mostly obsolete 32 bit software.
Wine also says that only 64 bit applications are supported on MacOSX. How does that work with EA?
I would like to introduce EA in our company, if it is able to run normally on Mac.
I tried to run installer but it is stuck when selecting install path.
Does anybody have any tips?

Well, I'm using Parallels ever since. I tried wine which worked (years ago) but felt strange somehow. For me the Parallels costs 50€ round about. Single user. I think it's worth it.

It is actually 100 EUR/year. And you also need to pay for a Windows license.
Not to mention it takes a lot of additional RAM to run it and you need to manage two OS.
And it still fells really strange to use it. How is it working on latest ARM based Macs?
Nowadays when you need to have a technology mix in development team (like iOS developers, DevOps using linux, designers using Mac, ...).
It is almost impossible to pick a tool, that is not working well everywhere.
I really liked EA in one of previous companies (10 years ago 8)).
Feature wise it is the BEST TOOL for the job. Technology wise it is the WORST TOOL for the job.
Any roadmap on 64 bit support? Or ARM? Or Web based solution?

With WINE you've got to do some pre-install steps with winetricks - see the instructions

I managed to get Sparx EA working on MacOSX a while back. Recalled it took a bit of fiddling around and experimentation with Wine tricks but eventually got it working with everything except the colour picker.
It was about 5-6 years ago and I'm pretty sure I was using a 64-bit version of MacOS.

That would be the detail that I never managed to find when looking at how Wine was able to run applications on Catalina.
If that's the case then you won't be able to run EA.

If I understand correctly, current Wine does not support 32-bit applications on Catalina and later OS.
But with CrossOver Mac, you can use Enterprise Architect on MacOS Catalina and BigSur. CrossOver Mac has its own program which is able to run 32-bit Windows applications on 64-bit MacOS.
And I have confirmed that I can run Enterprise Architect on Apple M1 by using CrossOver Mac. (much faster for launching and running, compared with Intel Mac!)

HTH,
Can confirm that CrossOver Mac runs EA smoothly on my M1 MacBook Air, and faster than in Parallels on my 2017 MacBook Pro. Only issue I have with CrossOver is the fonts are not nearly as smooth as in Parallels.

Hello Henrik,
I have two Mac mini, Late 2014 (Catalina) and latest M1 (Big Sur). EA works well on the both machine with CrossOver Mac, but M1 Mac mini works much faster even though it uses Rosetta.
(At first time, when launching EA, Crossover must be launched before EA so it will take longer time.)
As you wrote, rendering fonts on Crossover is not good if I use without changing any font setting. Especially, with Japanese fonts, I think it is very ugly. I need to change font setting to use better fonts which MacOS usually uses. You may need to enable font-smoothing setting by changing Registry.
You should try Crossover before buying to check the speed.
HTH,
