I seem to know where that has been in past versions (some of the option panels which I could find after a minute of poking around). I'm now searching for 5 minutes in the ribbon maze and can't seem to find it. Anyone knows by heart?

Never mind. I resorted to the registry and changed it there (IIRC I gave this advise rather recently here on the board). Why use a tool's GUI if you could more easily deal with it using system resources? Probably it's more like Graphical User Confusion.

Not Preferences | General | Author ?

That rings something. But sounds like an old EA version. I'm now (forced) on V15.2 and there is no Preferences menu any more :-/

Start | Preferences | General

Start | Preferences | General

Almost: Start | Desktop | Preferences | General
What does that have to do with the Desktop? Probably I'm not windowish enough...
(Just for the fun compare that dialog with Configure | Model | Options; esp. the Source Code section)

Ok Start | Preferences | Preferences | General | Author if you want to be precise :-)

Start | Desktop | Preferences | General | Author
Start | Desktop | Preferences | Preferences... | General | Author
Either of these is accurate. The preferences button in the desktop group is split. The text and arrow gives a menu, the icon executes the major action which happens to share the same name in this case. Just as well it's available in both locations or you may have ended up confused.

The split is for options saved into the current model vs the options saved for the current user of this computer. It's much better than having a mix of options that saved to different locations on the same page and never being quite sure what it was going to impact. Unless of course you are the only user of the only model you use.
That's not to say the division is perfect, there are some that seem silly to me too.

Well, good to hear. It's beyond me that after 20 years the options aren't in some state one could call "ok". It's not just me whining ever since about illogical grouping of options. Sparx is only adding to the confusion by moving the mess from the left desk side to the right (well, just as I do it on MY desk when claiming to bring order into the system). But I pay for EA and I do expect progress. But all I get for my money is the need to re-learn a system every year because another amateur got the task of cleaning the option jungle (and other menu locations).
Rant of the day: checked
