Title: Connector styles
Post by: BobM on April 05, 2023, 07:20:22 pm
I couldn't find anything in the official documentation but I found following in our companies documentation (I can't verify if it is 100% accurate):

Does anyone knows if there is a setting for the tree connectors to lower the bend distance (I want to set it to 1.5 cm)

Does anyone knows where I can find official documentation on the connector styles?

That is some nice documentation, better than the official documentation: https://sparxsystems.com/enterprise_architect_user_guide/16.1/modeling_fundamentals/connectorstyles.html (https://sparxsystems.com/enterprise_architect_user_guide/16.1/modeling_fundamentals/connectorstyles.html)

I don't think you can change anything to the bend distance.

There is a bezier trick in Peter Doomen's EA book :

Trick 14: A bezier curve
A colleague of mine once told me, that IT people like
their connectors straight and business people like to have
them rounded. I don’t know if that is true or not, but in
some diagrams, it would be nice if you could work with
curved lines to connect elements. Here’s how to do it: open
the connector properties window by double clicking on it,
select the tagged values tab and add a new tagged value
named “_bezier” with value 1.

The result will be a line with an extra handle that changes
the curvature of the bezier curve.

Hello rupertkiwi and all

The document is a bit old, now EA allows to set the bezier style for (basically) all connectors and all situations from the context menu. Formerly, the bezier style could be applied in some situations so we need the Tagged Value to apply the style.
