Title: Sequence Diagrams: Use deeper levels of Messages in a group
Post by: schleoh on May 06, 2024, 10:21:59 pm
hello,

I was wondering how you can switch messages deeper in sequence diagrams, e.g. 1.0, 1.1, 2.1.1, 2.1.2, 3.0, ... as described in the link below from Sparx System. I know how to create a new message group to go from e.g. 1.1 to 2.0 but not how to create 2.0.1.
Selecting the command “Sequence Communication Messages” via the options is grayed out for me.

Any ideas? Thank you!

See description of the chapter "Sequence Messages"

The Help you mentioned indicates for Communication diagram not Sequence.
And it works effectively in Communication diagram.

As she said... In a SD a numbering would be pointless and UML does not provide such a notion (for good reason).

The title in the description is a bit misleading. "Sequence" is meant as verb and not referring to a SD.
