Title: 1704 Error
Post by: Model Trainer on April 30, 2025, 11:45:39 pm
Hi everybody,

We shared a Sparx EA repository within a group to work simultaneously on the model and put their discussions there. People are working within Sparx Lite and have access to the read-only version of the file. The file is shared on a server folder. But for some of the users, when they want to put their discussions, they got the 1704 error with this content:
Enterprise Architect (Build: 1704 - 64 bit)

Sparx Systems Database API [0x00001086]

SQL API Update FAILED with error: attempt to write a readonly database

Context: Insert into t_document (DocDate, IsActive, Version, Author, DocType, StrContent, ElementType, ElementID, Style, Notes, DocName, DocID) values (:bv_docdate,:bv_isactive,:bv_version,:bv_author,:bv_doctype,:bv_strcontent,:bv_elementtype,:bv_elementid,:bv_style,:bv_notes,:bv_docname,:bv_docid)

Does any body have the same experience? Have any idea how to fix it?

Thanks for any help or idea.

Hi,
Are you trying to save from the Sparx Lite application?
I find that hard to believe, as there is no save option there (as far as I remember).

I'm afraid that is what happens if you put a file on a shared drive.

The only professional way to collaborate with multiple people on the same model is to use a proper database (SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL,...-
