Title: Regenerate document like Rational SoDA?
Post by: Boon Kui on March 20, 2014, 01:31:52 am
Hi,

I would like to ask about the RTF document generator.

In Rational SoDA, it can generate a document with embedded tags. The generated document can be edited as long as the tags are not disturbed. The edited document can be later refreshed (i.e. regenerated) with the latest content in the model. This mechanism allows the manual editing to be preserved while the latest content from the model is refreshed.

May I know if there is such equivalent feature in EA? I have looked through the guide for RTF document generator but have not come across such feature.

Your help is much appreciated. Thanks.

I don't think that's possible as the whole RTF doc is generated and nothing is preserved. You could possibly interleave linked docs with the generated document using virtual/model documents. You could then edit the linked document so next time it generates its includes changes but that's probably as close as you can get.

Have a look at eaDocX thats probably as close to SODA as you'll get in Sparx EA.
