Title: EA keeps losing connection to sql server over VPN

When I am trying to use EA over a VPN connection, I can do a few actions and then get a message indicating the connection to the sql server is lost during the query. Most of the time after receiving that message (which takes a while before it appears) I can do 1 or 2 clicks, before it again loses the connection.
In short: it is unworkable

Does anybody have a similar experience or (more importantly) a solution ?
