General Board / Re: Where's EA-Req Pro (from World EIT)
« on: March 18, 2003, 09:43:43 am »
Steve -
Congratulations on forming the new company, looks like you're making progress into an area of great opportunity.

Can you clarify how the three companies are related and how they will work moving forward (Worled eIT, Sparx, and EPG)?

I'm trying to develop a business case to move to the EA Tool Set and in order to do so I need to point to some sources of information.  Right now it's scattered across the various sites - not to mention I can no longer pull up the World eIT site.

I'm trying to understand the development/relase timeline of your products, as the full integrated suite is the compelling story, when comparing to say, the Rational Suite.

Sorry for the broad, general question, but any ammunition to develop my case would be appreciated.

Regards,
Chris

Thanks Jason - So does EA consider Rational Rose as their key competitior or does EA also compete with Rational ReqPro?  How, if at all, does it incorporate the capabilities of Rational ClearCase and Rational ClearQuest?  I understand EA is not trying to be an all-in-one CASE tool, but when looking for an end-to-end solution, this is what they are up against.
Has anyone any experience in exporting EA data into another product's Defect Tracking tool or SW Mgmt. Tool?

Much appreciated,
Chris

*so is everyone on this board an Aussie?  I lived in Sydney for 9-10 months back in the early 90s, but haven't made it back since.  How I do miss the Tooye's Old, Red Back, and VB!

General Board / EA vs. Other CASE Tools

I am currently looking into establishing a firm wide system definition delivery capability and am currently looking at several software tools for the requirments through modeling and testing phases.  Looking at the usual suspects, Rational, Borland, etc. as well as EA.
Can current users shed some light on the pros/cons of EA vs. Rational (ReqPro, Rose, ClearQuest).  I have some Rational experience several years ago and was moderately satisfied, though, at the time, the integration of ReqPro and Rose was completely vaporware.  This was a huge shortcoming as the concept of traceability was not truely supported.  Nor was their tight integration, at the time, with ClearQuest.  Additional there was not much in the way of functionality for QA reporting/metrics.

Any input and thoughts would be appreciated.

Regards,
Chris
