Suggestions and Requests / More structured Forum
« on: October 26, 2003, 06:16:28 am »
Hello Sparks

Would it be possible to give the forum a little more structure? At the moment everthing has to be posted into the General board.

My suggestion: Having some more boards for different topics.

eg. a board concerning document generation
a board concerning java
a board concerning c++

I think the community has some more ideas.

Since EA is running on Linux it really would be an excellent idea to have CVS supported!

General Board / Re: UML: Aggregate versus Generalize
« on: October 15, 2007, 06:12:09 am »

My understanding of aggregation is "consists of parts" or "contains parts".

I think the example Code 2 has nothing to do with aggregation but with the delegate pattern which is common to avoid inheritance.

btw shouldn't this post be in the UML thread?

General Board / Java Debugging No agent loaded in process
« on: April 22, 2009, 08:02:26 pm »
Hi folks

I'm trying to get a sequence diagram out of the java debugging function.
First some environment information.
OS Windows XP
EA Version 7.0.818
Bea Weblogic Version 10.3
JRE 1.6.0_05

Loading of SSJavaProfiler5_70 seems to work, checking with Process Explorer shows process=java.exe, pid=1992, type=dll, Handle or DLL=C:\Program Files\SparxSystems_EnterpriseArchitect_7.0_EN\EA\SSJavaProfiler5_70.dll

What I do:
Start Weblogic Server with appropriate options according EA User Guide.
Check if SSJavaProfiler5_70.dll is loaded.
Start a JUnit Test, that connects to the Server and executes some methods.
In EA Debug Workbench Run Debugger shows Attach to Process Window. Selecting the PID with the number shown as by the Process Explorer containing the SSJavaProfiler5_70.dll

Get Error:No agent loaded in process C:\Win32App\bea10\JDK160~1\bin\java.exe

Some thoughts:
Might it be an access right problem? I do not have admin rights.
Might it be a problem of other vm options starting the vm? such as -client   -Xms256m -Xmx512m -XX:CompileThreshold=8000 -XX: PermSize=48m  -XX:MaxPermSize=128m -Xverify:none -da

Thanks for any good help

How about self-control (you can call it the inner human spam-filter)

Ignore the spam, no clicks, no views and hope the "market rules" will play.

General Board / Re: Carriage Return

Could locate the source of the problem.

It is the text I wrote. The generator seems not to like this:

<< some text >>

When I write the text witout "<<" ">>" it works.

Hello Gary

I'm using Build 815. It works with the legacy RTF Generator but not with the new one.

Hello Gary

It's the package note.

General Board / Carriage Return
« on: August 20, 2007, 08:23:00 am »
Hi folks

Is there a way to get the 'carriage return' written in the notes also be written within the rtf document?

Text written in notes:
bla bla bla:
1) so and so
2) other stuff

Text generated in rtf:
bla bla bla:1) so and so2) other stuff

General Board / CVS Current User
« on: March 21, 2006, 01:57:30 pm »
Hi folks

Is there a way to set the 'current user' in the cvs configuration dialog manually?

The problem is, we have different user ids for windows xp and cvs. So the automatically chosen 'current user' is useless for cvs connection.

General Board / Debug Java hangs
« on: November 30, 2005, 12:33:48 pm »

Thanks to this forum I managed to compile and run a very simple Java Class. Just main method and a simple System.out.println.

When I try to debug this 'application' EA hangs. -> No response in Windows Taskmanager. Even waiting for 5 or 10 minutes ends in the same result.

I've installed the jdk on C:\jdk1.5.0_03 and also an older Version on C:\j2sdk1.4.2_03.

Running java -version on dos prompt results in "1.5.0_03".

Here is my Build, Test, Execute Script contents:

Name: EA Test
Directory: D:\projects\TestEA6.0\Software

Build CMD
c:\jdk1.5.0_03\bin\javac -g -sourcepath src -d D:\projects\TestEA6.0\Software\bin src\ch\swisslife\prov\dialog\*.java

Capture Output yes, Parser: Java SDK

Test CMD is empty

Run: java -cp bin ch.swisslife.prov.dialog.Test
Debug: ch.swisslife.prov.dialog.Test
Vars: jre=C:\jdk1.5.0_03
Use Debugger: Java

Deploy CMD is empty

Anybody who has a solution?
Btw. there is a similar problemdescription but for .NET.

General Board / CVS & Jalindi with remote Repository
« on: June 07, 2004, 08:22:20 am »
Hello EA community

Has any body some experience with configuring EA to use CVS with a remote Repository.

I wonder how to manage that Jalindi can access the remote Repository. With Pushok's SCC Proxy I have the ability to define the CVSROOT as well as the local "sand box". How does this work with Jalindi?

General Board / Re: Self Messages in Sequence Diagrams
« on: April 02, 2004, 03:12:14 am »
Hi Andreas
Not a solution just an opinion. Too many lines and arrows can make a diagram unreadable. So "return" Arrows I would only use if they have an absolutly significant meaning.

UML gives you the joice to use an explicit return arrow or indicate the return value by using it as part of the message as implemented in EA.

A tool is a tool and it's the implementers freedom to provide certain functionality or not. So do not hit anybody having his freedom. Ask them for more functionality.

General Board / Associated files: Embedding not linking RTF
« on: October 26, 2003, 06:22:23 am »

I would like to automatically embed a file (RTF) into the generated RTF document. I added the file in a usecases property under the files option.

When generating the docu, a link is generated. But I'd rather have the file embeded.

Is there a way to do so?

General Board / Re: RTF and Open Office

Hello Jürgen

Could you please tell me which version of EA and OpenOffice do you use?

I'm using OpenOffice 1.0.1 and EA  3.6  which causes this Path error I mentioned in my prior posting. ( ...../Images//EAID_.... ).

Thank you.
