General Board / Custom tables in EA
« on: July 26, 2021, 07:31:46 pm »
Hi,

I am using the custom tables in EA. Attached screen shot.

The column width for the tables can be changed by the user. It is stored in EA.

The question is where is this information regarding the column width getting stored. I am unable to find it any of the sql tables

Thanks,
Karan

Bugs and Issues / Re: Document generator misses content randomly
« on: March 24, 2021, 08:28:07 pm »
Random means: it can skip a section when you run it now, but this same section could be included if you run it a second time.
@Geert: Thanks!, I will investigate the add-in.

Bugs and Issues / Document generator misses content randomly
« on: March 24, 2021, 08:03:00 pm »
Hi All,

I have a MYSQL server on which Enterprise architect model is hosted.
Users connect to it using an ODBC connection and do the modelling. They also generate documents using the same connection.

Of late, have noticed that the document generated from EA is not consistent. It randomly misses section.
The issue happens randomly. The frequency of occurrence has increased in the recent time.
The document generator is triggered using an add-in with EA operated in headless mode.

I use EA 13.1. The machine generating the document and the machine hosting the MYSQL are on the same LAN.

Any clues?

Thanks
Karan

Found my answer:

C:\Windows\SysWOW64>odbcconf.exe /A {CONFIGDSN "MySQL ODBC 5.1 Driver" "DSN=a2g_master|user=abcd|pwd=mnop|server=SV1|Port=3306|database=xyzl|BIG_PACKETS=8|FOUND_ROWS=2"}

General Board / OBDC setup using command line
« on: August 28, 2020, 01:14:00 am »
Hi,

I am trying to setup an OBDC Data source using a command line interface.
The command goes like
>odbcconf.exe /A {CONFIGDSN "MySQL ODBC 5.1 Driver" "DSN=test|Servername=sv1|Port=3306|user=abcd|pwd=xyz"}

I am using the MySQL ODBC 5.1 Driver.

The error pops up as :
CONFIGDSN: Unable to create a data source for the  "MySQL ODBC 5.1 Driver" driver:
Component not found in the registry with error code -2147467259

Any clues what is wrong? or any other way to set this up using a command line?

Thanks
Karan

General Board / Re: Dangling Proxy connector
« on: May 11, 2020, 01:43:00 pm »
Hi Paolo,

Yes, I am aware it goes in the t_object table. Also it does not appear in the project browser.
Even I think, connector proxy is more sensible name

Thanks
Karan

Hello Qwerty, Paolo,

The integrity checker does run on repositories also. Thanks for pointing out.
It also removes the proxy connectory.

Still wondering how it appeared. Tried it on a local setup to simulate the problem but could not.

Thanks for the help!

Regards,
Karan

Hi Geert,

I have as database hosted for this project. I guess integrity check can run only on EAP.
I would have to transfer the DB to file and then do the check and then push back the eap to DB.

Thanks
Karan.

General Board / Dangling Proxy connector
« on: May 09, 2020, 12:37:55 am »
Hi,

I have some proxy connectors in my database.
These proxyconnectors have a classifier. This classifier when seached in t_connector table must lead to a new connector, which is source.
Basically classifierID of proxy connector  = ConnectorID of the connector from where the proxy connector originites.

Now the issue is that the classifierID of the proxy connector is not existing in the database in t_connector table.

Any clues how can I solve this now /  get rid of the proxyconnector objects?
Also how can this happen?

Thanks
Karan

General Board / Document generation with RunReport
« on: March 31, 2020, 11:44:02 pm »
Hi,

The doument generator when triggered through EA GUI is capable of thorwing error messages on the SystemOutput / Script Trace.

I am using the RunReport (string PackageGUID, string TemplateName, string Filename) API provided by EA to generate documents from EA though the automation.
I am passing the masterdocuemnt ID to the API. Is there a way that the SystemOutput / Script Trace can be read from the automation. This will help to determine if an error occurred during document generation.

Thanks
Karan

General Board / Quick links
« on: March 31, 2020, 08:32:11 pm »
Hi,
I have defined quick links in my MDG. It works fine.
But in the mean time the default list of options when a connector is drawn goes missing.

any idea how both quick link and default option can stay together?

Thanks for the help.
The data I generate from EA is fed to another tool.
Some how the tool is not able to unescape the characters.
