General Board / EA17 - mutiple stereotypes in data model
« on: April 03, 2025, 07:56:58 pm »
Hi,

would you happen to know where in the underlying data model I can find multiple stereotypes for an element (if assigned) ?  More specifically, it applies to ArchiMate elements that have additional stereotypes defined.

Best regards

Hello,

when creating a a report that contains two query levels, joined by a condition - the report gets a type of Query, not of Designer.  That means - it cannot be used to create custom Connector properties.  it looks like the same applies even if the Query is just a single query.
Would you happen to have any idea how to overcome this ?  An example : I need a list of ports (including their ea_guid's)  that are associated with nodes.

Using ProLaborate 5.2.0.70

Best regards
Marcin

Never mind ... it looks like some scripting experiment went awry :-(.  The functionality works fine.

Hi,

when we installed new version (17) - the traceability window would show replaces (or replaced by) for those elements that have been cloned into new versions.  However, that stopped appearing and now the only way to find that is by using TAM window.  That's a bit annoying - does anyone know how to get this information to show again in the Traceability window ?

And perhaps into Inspector, if it has ever been there ?

Best regards

PCS General Board / Re: Custom attributes in ProLaborate

Just in case anyone struggles with that - the char data type for an attribute is not recognized.  It needs to be String to be editable.

Thank you Geert for pointing me out to MDG ....

Thank you Geert, I did not know that MDG has to be imported also into ProLaborate.  Now the funny thing happens - enum based attributes are editable and show drop downs.  Text attributes are not editable, despite having been configured as editable in the MDG's profile for specific stereotype.

Thank you for pointing me into right direction.  Appreciate any further suggestions.

PCS General Board / Custom attributes in ProLaborate
« on: March 19, 2025, 09:26:31 pm »
Hello,

apologies if the subject had already been discussed - search did not return anything relevant.

We created some profiles in our Sparx EA, extending several UML elements.  As example, we created our own specialization of Node.  Let's it called it ExtendedNode.  It has some additional attributes, based on either date or enumerations.

When exposing them for editing in ProLaborate, they come out nicely, but only as text fields.  Is there a way to have them behave the same way as in Sparx, meaning understand and apply profile and use values coming from the profile, so that ProLaborate users would use the same consistent values/types as Sparx users ?

We are using (at the moment) ProLaborate 5.2.0.70.

Automation Interface, Add-Ins and Tools / Re: Nesting template fragments ?
« on: February 14, 2025, 08:55:00 pm »
Hi Geert,

I do not think currently one Fragment can be embedded into another Fragment.  It could probably work if reporting on Embedded Elements worked, but somehow it does not seem to be working.  Using Diagram Elements - there is no way of getting Embedded Elements, except writing own queries/scripts.

Kind regards
Marcin

Automation Interface, Add-Ins and Tools / Nesting template fragments ?
« on: February 14, 2025, 07:17:54 pm »
Hello everyone,

does anyone know if there is a plan to implement a possibility of nesting document template fragments ?  That would be really helpful, instead of tinkering with the structure of a repository and organization of packages.  My use case if following : I have technology items (nodes, with ports) for all projects in a single place, applications components in a single places, instances in another ... you get the thought.  Now I have a package with a diagram where things come together.  Now I would like to dump a document that describes what is in the diagram, but also get elements from outside the diagram, in case there is any relationship  (i.e. another node having a flow to a port of a node in the diagram).  It should be structured in the document as :
-- diagram
---node in the diagram
----port on the node, and below the list/table of
-------node connecting to this port
-------node connecting to this port
-------node connecting to this port
-------node connecting to this port
----port on the node
-------node connecting to this port
-------node connecting to this port
----port on the node
-------node connecting to this port

---node in the diagram ...
---node in the diagram ...
---node in the diagram ...

Kind regards
Marcin

Automation Interface, Add-Ins and Tools / Re: DOORS Add-in
« on: March 16, 2023, 09:45:48 pm »
Yes, the EA is in 32 bit version.  Same error on few machines, got a bug solution suggestion from Sparx, but it is not that easy to try.  It requires editing registry settings, and that's a no-no in my organization.  Registry editing blocked, so need to wait for IT admins to help.  Then we will see if it works.

Automation Interface, Add-Ins and Tools / DOORS Add-in

Hi,

was anyone successful installing 16.1 and adding a DOORS add-in to it (3.0.301.4) ?   It does nto show up on the list of technologies after installation, and trying to add it manually results in nothing - no error, no message ...

General Board / Re: ArchiMate relationships support
« on: March 09, 2023, 09:23:12 pm »
Never mind - I found that modelling with ArchiMate works slightly differently to modelling with UML. I.e. it is easier to simply drag a connection out of existing element into empty place and then contextual menu will offer creation of elements as mandated by the ArchiMate models (from any layer that connected elements could be created).

General Board / ArchiMate relationships support
« on: March 09, 2023, 09:01:15 pm »
Hi,

I have tried creating an application layer model, and while the elements seem to be properly provided - I only see UML relationships types , not the ArchiMate 3.1.  I am using EA 16.0.  As example - trying to create a relation from Application Component to itself - the ArchiMate relationships are shown.  Trying to create a relationships between different Application Components in the same model - only UML Dependency, Information Flow and Trace are shown.  Toolbox permanently shows only UML relationships.

Any ideas would be really appreciated.

Hi,

anyone installed/enabled DOORS add-in successfully ?  It is not appearing in Add-in window, and it seems that it gets installed on the path used by 32 bit software (C:\Program Files (x86)), while EA 16 gets installed into the other location (C:\Program Files).

Any help would be appreciated.

Best regards
Marcin
