General Board / EA 17 Beta install removed my EA 16

Hi

Tried to install EA 17 Beta on a different folder, as I have done before when having multiple versions installed, but it still removed my EA 16 installation.

What did I do wrong?

General Board / EA_Guid of 'current element' in an SQL search

Hi

Is there anyway, that I in a Custom SQL of a ModelView, have access to the EA Guid of the ModelView Element itself? Or is there a clever way of obtaining it tha I have missed? I would like the make a generic table, that can be 'plugged-in' on several diagrams, without having to physically change the EA GUID in the search for each copy I make.

Bugs and Issues / Alias behavior on relationships on diagrams not consistent with other elements

Hi

I would like to show both Names and Aliases on all elements on my diagrams, so I have:
- In Preferences -> Behavior -> Alias usage selected 'Alias and Name'
- On the Diagram, Properties -> Appearance selected 'Use Alias if Available'

All the elements on the diagram have both a Name and an Alias, and both show up nicely on the elements,  but not on the connectors/relationships. Here it only shows either the Name or the Alias, depending on the 'Use Alias if Available' setting on the diagram.

Is there a something I have missed, a setting somewhere, or is this as designed?

The reason for this, is that a client of mine would like to use both English and Danish when doing BPMN 2.0 modeling, and saw the Name/Alias as way. It also makes it possible to 'swap' between languages depending on the Alias usage settings.

Any ideas?

General Board / Anyone here that have used APQC PCF Framework in EA?

Any of you guys that have experience with APQC's Process Clarification Framework (PCF) in EA? Good, bad, challenges and so on.

Have found this post https://www.sparxsystems.com/forums/smf/index.php?topic=41311.0 mentioning an MDG that I will look into also.

Bugs and Issues / EA 16.005. HTML. Resizing the Browser window does not resize content

Hi

When you resize the HTML window, the actual content window, i.e. the generated HTML is not resized.

It is quite annoying, especially for larger diagrams such as business processes, that you have to scroll back and forth inside the fixed size content area instead of having the content area follow the browser window size.

I guess it is 'as designed' but it is a step back from the previous version, where the content area followed the browser window size.

Anyone out there with HTML/CSS skills, that can change that behavior?

Bugs and Issues / v1605 - HTML Generator. Diagram Images on Default Diagram. href links are wrong

When generating HTML, links from Diagrams Images on the Diagram selected to be the Default Diagram are generated wrong. They point 'one level too high' in the directory structure, as shown here:

General Board / Duration in BPMN 2.0 diagrams

Hi

have any of you any good ideas for how to add Duration on BPMN 2.0 diagrams? Not for use in simulations but for documentation purposes. I would like use 'out of the box' BPMN 2.0 if possible, e.g. I would like to avoid custom tagged values and the like.

I have tried grouping activities within Boundaries and use the Boundary name for the duration, but I think it adds to much clutter to the diagrams.

PCS General Board / Where do I set EAworker diagram generation options?

Hi.

Does anyone know how and where to set the EAWorker options for generating diagram images?

I have configured my local EA to not use bold element names and to show both Name and alias on elements. It works fine when I work in EA, but it seems to be overwritten by the EA Default options by the EAWorker, when it generates images for WebEA.

What happens is:
- I save a diagram in EA
- When I look at it in WebEA, it shows the diagram image with the same options as mentioned above.
- After 5 to 30 seconds, the diagram image in WebEA changes back to using bold element names an only showing Alias or Name on elements.

It seems to me that that change happens when the EAWorker kicks in, and so, I would like to know how to change the EAWorker options?

I have tried logging in on my own machine with the EAWorker User ID and Password, but that, of course, shows my own settings.

Do I have to start EA on the same machine as the EAWorker runs and change the settings there or is there a more clever way of doing it?

PCS General Board / PCS + WebEA up and running on Windows 11 ARM using Parallels 17 on an M1 Mac

Hi

Last obstacle for me being able to ditch my Intel MacBook in favour of an M1, has now been resolved. What kept me back was the lack of a Windows 11 ARM compatible webserver, eg. IIS or XAMP, or at least thats what I thought. IIS Express installs and runs perfectly fine under Windows 11 ARM, and so does PCS and WebEA.  I have tested using EA 15.2, PCS 4.2 and MS SQLServer Express.

I will be more than happy to provide a more detailed description, if any of you are in the same situation as I was.

Suggestions and Requests / Upgrade CMMN to version 1.1 (EA 15.2 & 16.x Beta)

Hi

It seems to me that the CMMN implementation in EA currently is at CMMN 1.0, since Decision task is not supported. Any plans to upgrade to CMMN 1.1?

I know that CMMN hasn't really taken off in the industry, but it would be nice to be able to use the latest specs.

PCS Frequently Asked Questions / SOLVED: Database connection error from WebEA using MS SQL Server

I am trying to setup a local installation of EA, PCS, WebEA for testing purposes on my laptop, but I simply cannot get it to connect my MS MS SQL database. I tried the same exercise a little over a year ago where it went without a hitch, so I am rather bewildered as to what I have done wrong. Connecting to a Firebird datavase works perfectly.

When trying to open my model from WebEA, I get the message "A connection to the selected model could not be created, check the connection string in the cloud client'.

I have tried using both 'SQL Server authentication' and 'Windows Authentication' and also tried using both the 'Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server' and the 'Microsoft OLE DB Driver for SQL Server' but all combinations results in the same error.

My setup is Windows 10. MS SQL Server Express 15, EA 15.2, XAMPP 3.3 and PCS 4.2.66 and everything runs fine. the PCS and WebEA Web config runs as it is supposed to.

Anyone of you have any bright ideas as to what I am doing wrong?

PCS General Board / Anyone here have experience with Visibility Levels?

Have any of you any experience in using Visibility Levels and its goods and bads? And wiling to share your experiences?

I client of mine have asked if it is possible to control the parts of the model shown to certain persons/groups in their AD, and it seems that Visibility Levels is the answer, but I find it hard to read from the documentation what it actually does for you.

General Board / Specify colours on bars on a 2D StandardChart

Hey

Is there anyway I can specify the colours used on the columns on a 2D Standard Chart? I have diagrams that show the number of BusinessProcesses based on their Status, an in some diagrams Proposed is red, in others it is green.

The colour, it seems, is determined by the the position on the chart, i.e. first one is always blue, second is red and so on, which hurts my OCD eyes, because I would like that e,g, Status Proposed is always the same colour, no matter how many other status types are used.

Have a feeling, based on the documentation, that it is not possible.
