Suggestions and Requests / SQL 2005 Express as a supported database...
« on: April 14, 2006, 11:10:58 pm »
It would be nice to have this as a supported database of the professional version, since it is free for all to download and use for development.

Suggestions and Requests / NetBeans 5.0 MDG integration...

Maybe there isn't a buissness case, but it would be cool to have one similar to your demo'd MS VS 2005 integration...

Suggestions and Requests / Ruby code generation...

I know that someone uploaded one to the user's group site (I think).  It would be nice to just have Ruby generation and synchronization at install time.

General Board / Automation Interface connect to MySQL???
« on: September 17, 2003, 04:26:19 pm »
How do you open a MySQL repository using the automation interface???  It was not clear to me reading the samples for the automation interface.  They only connected to a local Access repository.

General Board / .Net Compact Framework import
« on: July 03, 2003, 09:19:21 pm »
I remember seeing a post about importing the .NET framework into EA.  I was wondering if there was a way to do the same thing with the .NET compact framework.  I would like to do some toying around with my new Pocket PC and the .NET compact Framework and just wanted to use EA to document the design for my little test project.

General Board / Added a new element report???
« on: June 12, 2003, 11:12:31 pm »
What exactly is the report element?

I don't see it in any of the pallettes to put in a diagram.  I want to use it to represent some customer documentation like paragraphs from a statement of work for certain tasks.  Would this be an appropriate use for this element.  I just don't want to use a custom element that was really intended for another use later.  I could not find anything in the documentation about the report element.

General Board / MySQL EA synched across two networks?
« on: June 10, 2003, 10:27:19 am »
We are running the coporate edition with MySQL.

Due to customer requirements we need to share part of our model with them (Requirments through use cases[robustness analysis]).  Our software baseline is on a seperate isolated network.  We would like to do a one way synchronization of the model through the use cases on the isolated network.  On the isolated network we will be doing the rest of the design, sequence, class, state, and activity diagrams.  Also we will want to link the classes to the use cases with realizations.  This would occur any time changes in the mentioned sections occur (probably at most once a week).   We don't want to lose any of the connections when we synchronize the two databases.  What would be the best approach to this? (XMI export, SQL dumps, etc.) What might be some of the problems that may be encountered using the suggested approach?

General Board / synchronization and duplicate associations...
« on: September 24, 2002, 10:46:48 pm »
Just recently we were having problems where we created a class diagram.  Then generated code.  After some coding was done it was synchronized to the database.  When the synchronization was complete.  An extra duplicate association showed up everywhere.  We deleted the extra assocation and generated code followed by synchronizing.  They showed up again.  We then deleted the original associations and no more duplicates showed up.  Could someone explain why this happens??

General Board / EJB and UML modelling
« on: September 12, 2002, 09:51:25 pm »
I have been using EA for awhile and a friend was telling me today that EA could not be used to model EJB (enterprise java beans).  Is this true?  Or is the person mistaken?

I have never developed EJB, I might be doing that in the future.  I prefer EA over Rational Rose and want to be able to keep using the tool.  Also, if somebody could give me the basics in how to model EJB I'd appreciate that.

General Board / Question and a suggestion
« on: June 25, 2002, 12:30:54 pm »
What exactly is the Version control mentione in the newsletter?

Also maybe the version control would work for a feature a colleague would like to see in the software.

The suggestion is to have a history of who has changed an object in EA, maybe with a description of the change.  We wanted this to show the history of how the model was changing by object.  I don't know if this would even be possible.  We just thought is would be a good feature if it could be done.

General Board / Package objects in diagram
« on: June 11, 2002, 08:49:55 am »
I have created a diagram showing how some of my packages relate to each other.  In a couple of the packages there are long names to objects contained(requirements).  Is there any way to get the text to shorten to some text followed by ... (my prefered solution), is there a way to get the text for each object to wrap to the next line (I can only shrink the package to the rightmost character), or can I turn off the display of what is contained in the package?

I appreciate any help I can receive.  The diagrams the way they are right now is not ideal for displaying this high level representation.

General Board / Relationship Matrix feature suggestion
« on: June 02, 2002, 12:38:01 am »
The relationship matrix is an amazingly useful tool.  I was wondering if it is possible or would be possible to get relationship matrices into the RTF and HTML documentation.  This would be nicely seemless for documentation.

General Board / Possible feature...
« on: March 01, 2002, 01:59:42 pm »
I was running through some diagrams and I was wondering if in the future Each class with a stereotype could individually change from icon to class with <<stereotype>>.

Also in the future might the interface icon be included as well.

Just some ruminations.

General Board / ???Feature Question
« on: February 27, 2002, 04:11:57 pm »
I was looking at the language support and was curious if you were going to support IDL in the future.  This would be useful to handle some CORBA interfaces in our software.  I am evaluating the product for me to use at home with a couple of friends for a personal software project.  I am also looking for a cost-effective UML product to convince work to buy.  I am tired of coding in Java and C++ and nobody doing OOAD.  I like what I see by the way.
