General Board / Generate RTF Document template question
« on: July 28, 2008, 09:26:45 am »
I think I may have asked the wrong question before so I might ask again. I wish to put in Pkg.Name into a second postion in an RTF document template. For the first position, I just 'ticked' the Package box under Sections so I cant do that again for the second position.

How can I type in package>{Pkg.Name}<package and have EA recognise it as a key area.

General Board / Generate RTF - how do I Pkg.Name in two places
« on: July 25, 2008, 01:20:02 pm »
I wish to Generate an RTF document using the default [user case template]. On the final page of the document, it has the tag Pkg.Name as default.

I wish to include a second Pkg.Name on the first page as well. Is it possible to have Pkg.Name in the second spot and if so, how would I do it?

General Board / Print to RTF issue
« on: July 24, 2008, 10:52:23 am »
I have created a hierarchy which the first level is Schedules, second level is Business Rules and the third level is Schedule Mind Map. In the Mind Map Diagram, I have included Contraints (like notes) as well as Central Topics, Topics, etc.

When I go to  create my document using Rich Text Format and the standard Use Case Template, I get the following document;
1.0 Schedules
1.1 Business Rules
1.1.1 <anonymous>
something written here from a Constraint in the Mind Map below
1.1.2 Schedules Mind Map
1.1.2.1 Schedule Mind Map items etc.....

How do I get rid of the <anonymous> or at least get it relocated to be under the 1.1.2.x?

« on: June 17, 2008, 03:50:26 pm »
I am documenting an existing application and want to include all the stored procedures in the SQL database. In the "Import DB Schema from ODBC source" I have the "Include User Stored Procedures" ticked but the stored procedures are not being imported.

Can anyone suggest how I can import the stored procedures please.

General Board / How to represent Business Rules
« on: May 21, 2008, 01:24:31 pm »
I am trying to document a process that is already in place (a complicated software application) and it is required to show the business rules.

What is the best way in EA to show Business Rules and Contraints with regard to code/database interations? Are there any examples?

Bugs and Issues / Assume SQL Bug
« on: June 18, 2008, 12:07:53 am »
Hi, I have left a message in the General notice board and no-one has offered any suggestions so I assume this is a bug.

My comment was; I am documenting an existing application and want to include all the stored procedures in the SQL database. In the "Import DB Schema from ODBC source" I have the "Include User Stored Procedures" ticked but the stored procedures are not being imported. I am getting all the tabels but not the stored procedures.

Can anyone suggest how I can import the stored procedures please.

I have noticed the same thing so looking forward to answers as well. Secondly, I have built a few Requirment and Model diagrams using actors and other elements which when I produce the RTF, it lists those individual elements. I want to print the diagrams without the individual elements being listed, how would i do this (I know I can open in Word and delete the listed items but would be good if EA can do this).

Automation Interface, Add-Ins and Tools / SQL Data dictionaries
« on: May 28, 2008, 11:12:23 pm »
I am looking for a tool that will produce a data dictionary from an SQL database. Will EA do this out of the box and if so, how is it done please?

If not, can someone suggest a tool that could do this easily for me.

Automation Interface, Add-Ins and Tools / Importing a VB6 project
« on: May 21, 2008, 01:18:58 pm »
I wish to import a VB6 project but I have notieced that I can only import .cls and .frm which is a problem. The project has many .bas (class modules) files as well.

How can I overcome this so that .bas will be imported?
Can EA draw relationship diagrams of modules from a VB6 project?

Also, it would be nice to import .vbp so can someone explain why .vbp cannot be imported please?

Regards
