General Board / Where is "Overwrite Document Field" in EA 9.1
« on: September 20, 2011, 06:58:20 pm »
Hi there,

I have read the doc Menu_Ref_changes8to9 but I cannot find the "Overwrite Document Field" Option, which must have been on "File -> Document Options" Tab.

Any help is appreciated..

General Board / Show Status of Elements in Diagrams
« on: September 13, 2011, 12:33:25 am »
I would like to show the status of UsesCases on a Diagram (proposed, validated).
Tools -> Options -> Objects -> show state compartments is on.
Version is 9.1

For Features and requirements, I can see the "icons" (F|E).
I have also tried to show up the stereotype of a feature, may be it would have been useful to categorize features.

Any help appreciated..  :-/

General Board / Show child of (owns / owned by) relation in diagra
« on: September 07, 2011, 10:24:33 pm »
Hi all,

does anybody knows a possibility to show up a connector in a diagram, indicating a parent / child relation?

Nearly any Elements (like Requirements) can be dragged into another in order to build a tree like structure.
But when I drag that both elements onto a diagram, no connector, no relation is shown.

Traceability is fine, while you have the 'owned by' connector, but visualization is bad for me, as I would like to show that child-of relation on my diagram as a connector.

Any suggestions appreciated!

General Board / Associate TestCase element with UseCase
« on: September 02, 2011, 02:06:49 am »
Hi there,

I have read through documentation about testing in EA, but I am missing something: If you create a testcase element (which is a usecase), how do you associate it with the actual usecase.

If I add the test as an inline feature, I have no element representing the test case itself. In addition to that, I have not found a way to display the test compartment of a _UseCase_ (Example in documentation shows a class).

We have a "high-level" testing plan, and like to visualize a UseCase together with its associated Testcase.

How do you connect / associate the TestCase element with the UseCase element?
What is best practice for linking them together in order to report them as TestCases of an element?
Or ist the "Test" element in RTF-Report always inline, thus an unvisible (inline) element?

The only possibility I see, connecting the TestCase with the UseCase by using a dependency and report the TestCase as a dependend element.

How do you link / associate these two elements for best reporting possibilities?

General Board / tagged values in relationship matrix
« on: August 15, 2011, 07:07:49 pm »
Hello there,

may be I am on the wrong way, so first I like to tell you what I like to achieve: I am doing use case modeling for a product, which is in the market in two major version (like a product generation):
- Version 1
- Version 2
I would like two show, which usecases and requirements apply to version 1 and which apply to version 2.
So I have a node, containing all the usecases, for v1 and v2. Then I have defined a tagged value named 'Version' and set value 1, 2 or both. It would be better if using the tagged value twice (i.e. Version=1, Version=2) for an element for both/all versions but thats a side problem.

After doing that, I am trying to create a releationship matrix, showing e.g. the usecases on the x axis, and a collumn for each value of the tagged value "Version" (three in this example).
But I don't have a possibility to choose that tagged value as a target.
It seems that I have not get the concept, but I know clearly what I like to do.

I have also thought about using 'Scenarios' for distinction of versions, but I also do not find 'scenario' for using as a source or target.

How would you reflect different generations of the same application?
I need all the Major Versions in one model, as the application evolves and people like to know which feature or requirement or usecase comes from which generation of the software.

I am just looking for the right way...  :-/

Thanks in advance

General Board / OSGi declarative services in Java / Reverse Engine
« on: December 01, 2009, 01:05:55 am »
Dear Sparx Users,

Ok, I am completely new to Enterprise Architect, respectively I have used it for Analysis.

But now I like to do the step into source code engineering and thereby I have a Problem regarding OSGi declarative services:

a declarative service in OSGi (equinox in my case) is a component, which is desribed in a xml-file. The description contains the interface(s) the service provides, the implementation class and - most important - the dependencies to other components, which are declarative services, too.

My goal is to generate a component diagram out of a set of declarative service description-files. The diagram could show the relations between the component and other components as well as some details like implementation class etc.

The relation between the components could be of any kind, thus 0..n, 1..1, 1..n

If there is not a solution out of the box, could you please tell me how to get into the mdg features, so that I can create my own conversion script respectively see if it is possible to realize this?

Bugs and Issues / Spell Check uses wrong language
« on: January 26, 2011, 02:10:55 am »
I would like to see EA UI in english, but I am writing my notes in german.

This is the way we like to work.
But the spell checking, particularly on the notes of an item, is annoying me by underlining everything I write with that red spell checking underline.

I have set "Tools -> Spelling" language to german. Restarted EA because of no success. Nothing changed.
I did not have installed the language pack available, because I am happy having the application in english - but my notes an so forth in german.

Any hints would be appreciated.
