PCS General Board / Sparx EA + PCS + OpenID + callback URI + Citrix Virtual IP

Hi guys,
When setting up OpenID I have to identify on the ID Provider the callback or redirect URI i.e. http://localhost:8888/openid/callback
As we run Sparx EA v17 on a Citrix platform w/o Virtual IP I was wondering how does it impact OpenID callback flows when several Sparx EXEs run on the same server!?
Unless localhost:8888 is actually hosted elsewhere on the PCS server for instance, is it!?
Documentation is not clear about this...
What does listen to localhost:8888?

PCS General Board / Prolaborate - Tagged Values not showing up

Hi guys,

Running Prolaborate v5.4
Added ArchiMate Modeling Language for which we defined a group in the form designer.
We also set the 'Show for all stereotypes'.

We were then expecting to find our Tagged Values (created in the 'UML Types' dialog) in any of the four groups for stereotypes but no luck...

Can Prolaborate actually show 'custom' Tagged Values coming from the 'UML Types' dialog?

Bugs and Issues / Sparx EA to crash - v17 streamed from Citrix

Hi guys,

Sparx EA v17.0.1703
Citrix environment
MSSQL Database
PCS enabled

So every time I select two objects and still have ctrl key pressed in while going to the align menu, Sparx hangs and crashes shortly with a popup saying the instruction at 0x.... referenced memory at 0x..... The memory could not be read issue.

This behavior can be reproduced on and on.

Is this a bug in this version/build?
Are other having the same behavior?

General Board / Tagged Value Types - maximums?

Hi guys,
We are heavy consumers of Tagged Value Types and so far have created >100 Tag Types and more to come in the context of Prolaborate.
Question is where is the limit, the maximum number of Tag Types allowed in Sparx v16/17?
And eventually Sparx roadmap to make them more bulk 'manageable'?

Automation Interface, Add-Ins and Tools / Relationship, reporting and automation

Hi guys,
The Relationship property is great as it gives you a complete overview of the relations being controlflow, association or notelink of your diagram's elements.
I can even manually copy/paste into an Excel sheet.
Ultimately I would like to automate this.
For all these diagrams, export all relationships into a csv named after the diagram..
Is that even possible?

General Board / Sparx support to multi-environment setup

Hi guys, I'm looking at (best) practices to setup properly multiple pre-prod Sparx environments as well to have them periodically refreshed with production data.

Is Sparx familiar with such common setup in large organizations?
Does Sparx provide built-in tools or guidance to support such a multi-environment setup?

PCS General Board / API call - Tag returns multiple values

Hi,
We use Sparx APIs exposed on PCS to retrieve information out of Sparx DB and especially some tagged value types.
Although several values are available to pick up from, only a single value is 'registered' at any time and thus only a single value should come back to any API request.
However we have several tagged value types that return systematically 2 values and we don't understand why
Within Sparx EA fat client we see a single value assign to those behaving tags, making this issue even weirder...

Any idea what's going on here?

We are lucky to have Dynatrace in the company and we would like to onboard our Sparx solution into it.
Do you have any guideline on having Sparx EA monitored in Dynatrace?
For instance how would you monitor the Sparx EA calls to PCS?
Is there any Dynatrace integration package planned on the roadmap?

Hi guys,

Hope this is the right forum for this question.

We have Sparx EA 16.x along with PCS 5.x
DB is Oracle on RHEL.
DB config settings are default ones.

We are developing a tool to interact with Sparx DB through the OSLC API's.
So far so good however now our developers are getting time to time an 500 internal server error when GETting data from /oslc/am/nestedresources/ !?

We suspect Max Simultaneous Queries...

Do you have any hint on the issue here?

General Board / Auto Group Elements (hold ALT to toggle) - programmatically disable

Hi guys,

We have many architects working with Sparx EA 16.x as a published application on Citrix.
On several occasions we had troubles with elements moving around and nesting with other parents creating a mess in our structures.
Most of the time it was related to "Auto Group Elements (hold ALT to toggle)" that toggled ON for no apparent reason!

Questions are:

• Can we programmatically check that this parameter is toggled OFF every time Sparx EA starts?
• Is there a way to centrally managed those parameters for all users?

General Board / Disable Paste Element as New

Hi guys,
Running Sparx EA v16.x with PCS and an Oracle DB.
We have created many elements and set them as "common and shared elements" amongst all diagrams.
We also grouped them in a structural way in the Browser viewpoint.
We locked away (Group lock) those elements to make sure only a few users can edit them.
However still we cannot control and restrict the duplication (Paste operation -> Elements(s) as New) of those "common and shared elements".
Is there a way to restrict and control (permission-based?) this behaviour/operation for certain elements only i.e. those "common and shared elements"?

Automation Interface, Add-Ins and Tools / Sync Sparx tags with an external CMDB

Hi guys,
Reaching out the forum for a concern that landed in my basket.
We need to synchronize some of authoritative Sparx tags we set on a bunch of application components to our our group CMDB.
We have a 'classy' on-prem setup (EA Unified Ed) with floating licenses, Oracle DB and EA client distributed as a Citrix published app.

The group CMDB exposes some API's that we plan to use to achieve that sync.

The idea would be to develop some code (JAVA, .NET or VBS) that would read from the DB and put/post the tags to the group CMDB.

You may have already gone through same kind of request!
I'm looking for any tip, advice, attention point you would like to share.

General Board / ArchiMate Stereotypes and Tagged Values

Hi,

By editing the ArchiMate3.xml file I was able to set some default appearance settings to stereotypes such ArchiMate_Flow.

Now I want to have a set of tagged values to be included as well whenever I drag/drop an ArchiMate_Flow on a diagram and thus avoiding the manual add of those TVs.

For instance I want to have TV:Protocol and TV:Encryption to be added automatically added to the ArchiMate_Flow stereotype whenever I drag it to a diagram.

Is that only possible? And if yes how can you do that?

Automation Interface, Add-Ins and Tools / New Diagram - no Risk Taxonomy in the list

Hi,
Although RiskTaxonomy.xml do exist in C:\Program Files (x86)\Sparx Systems\EA\MDGTechnologies on the servers (Citrix farm) I still cannot add a new diagram using the Risk Taxonomy perspective since it does not show in the list of available perspectives (MDG's)

Any hint would be much appreciated!
