General Board / Apple Swift Programming Language
« on: September 06, 2016, 03:10:24 am »
Hi'ya folks

Has anyone come accross a UML to Swift Language generator / translator?  Is anyone interested in contributing to an open source project to provide such a generator / translator?

Thanks in advance for any pointers or offers.
Regards
Kevin

PS.  Absolutely love the appearance of the Ribbon Interface, almost ten years after MIcrosoft introduced us to it in Office 2007.

Suggestions and Requests / Support for Win7 Gesture Support in EA's Ui/x
« on: November 07, 2008, 08:05:15 am »
Just seen this in the guidelines for doing Windows 7 interfaces.

I use EA mainly on a tablet computer; pen flicks can be used to scroll diagrams for example.  With a mouse, flicks are quite hard to perform so I understand I'm in a minority...

Imagine......   ya flicks the package icon in ya tool kit, the package tool launches itself accross to the currently active diagram, bounces off the diagram frame, ya then hovers ya pen where youi want to place it on the diagram.... perhaps a little shudder and  flop.

Using Windows 7 applications, should engender joy and aim to delight and amuse the Windows user.

After it's flopped, EA should promt for a name.  Voice Recognition.

Quadrant would then enable you to call up a model, and change the workflow associated with the gesture.  The change is then immeadiately reflected in the running application.  On the Go Changing.

It would be really usefull to have inertia built into the EA Ui.... after a while EA users will notice that there's an implied 3D aspect to the interface which is not being exploited.  But then even after sharing at and manipulating, sequence diagrams; the howl for animation is like deafeningly abscent.

We gonna use both animation and inertia aware instances in the simulator.  Visual Observation of models ( gonna include UML Models of course... but ya can define ya own XMI to Codename Repository "Oslo" parsers ) will be how potential consumers will evaluate your solutions.

What do your models look like when running...

What do your users look like while they are using your product.

Windows 7 really wants to enthrall you, just for a moment.

Just a stream of happy clickers, webcams feeding realtime user reactions into your simulation ... they hate using it; no ones using it; they are fighting each other; It's been nicked...

Suggestions and Requests / BUG: Relationship View
« on: November 23, 2006, 12:11:51 pm »
Hi

I'm running EA on a tablet (Vista) in Portrate mode; and discover this when display the Relationship Matrix view.

If dropdown box contains a scroll bar, I will not be able to get to it and thus will have limited functionality. this is re-enforced by no scroll bar at the bottom of the view....

This is propably a minor problem, I can always switch to landscape or connect a keyboard  ??? >:( :'(

there is also a problem with the help system, I've posted to General forum.

General Board / EA and VS2013 Community Edition
« on: November 24, 2014, 08:17:06 am »
Hi, I am wondering whether EA's Visual Studio integration works with Visual Studio 2013 Community Edition?

I also note that a beta of the next EA release is in the pipe line, and that the integration mechanism is built in with Professional and above.  Will it work with the Community Edition?

Has anyone successfully done either?

From what I understand from Microsoft, there is no change in the integration / extension between VS2013 and VS2015 ( I'm thinking that it would be a miracle if either the current or beta EA's work with VS2015, but I'm prepared to be impressed ).

Hello,

Now that Oracle has launched Java 8 upon the world, any ideas if, or when EA will support it?  Will EA 11?

General Board / EA 11 Beta 1
« on: February 05, 2014, 03:50:24 pm »
Hello, it has been a long time since I have used EA... so I'm guessing that I'm really rusty.

I am completely unable to fathom how I connect EA to Visual Studio 2013.  I cant find the help topic, the MDG technology... I'm at a loss ;-)

I'm thinking this is a documentation / Help topic issue... but I cant find any reference to how to use cloud repositories, can I use Azure SQL?

Is the documentation not in sync with the software.

On the other hand really pleased to see that the beta is being released in a trial edition and not just to registered users.  So its not all bad.

Thank you,
Kevin [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]

General Board / Visual Studio 2012
« on: August 04, 2012, 04:39:53 pm »
Hi

In under two weeks, Visual Studio 2012 will be available ( August 15th )for download.

I'm wonder when EA will be able to integrate with the VS 2012 IDE?

Can / will EA interact with the online TFS service?

And finally will EA be able to cope with the new Async mechanisms and C++ language features?

Thank you,
Kevin [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]

General Board / Touch friendliness
« on: February 09, 2013, 09:09:18 am »
I've been given a large touch panel, an ancient dell server with the promise of a Surface Pro UK Launch.

Sparx EA interface doesn't work so well when the panel is mounted horizontally... more monopoly around grandmas table than desk dude gorilla downer.

Anyone come across more touch friendly UML app, even just for a single user.

Ta in advance, have fun

General Board / javascript typescript f# language parsing

Hi' ya

I've probably been too clever for my own good.

I've found an evaluation candidate, however they are heavily invested in Microsoft language technologies.  We are constructing Roslyn based transformation sets.

Anyone found an easy way to handle 15 - 25 concurrent young learners. As they submit changes to their source programs, we want to reflect these changes back to them as UML World Animations.  Lego automations competing with Nao, to accomplish everyday tasks.

I'm using latest Build....  pity it doesn't follow Office lead with touch enablent, some of us do have touch desktops and tables.

Happy new year

General Board / Legacy Passions - Happy Xmas 2012
« on: December 06, 2012, 08:25:01 am »
Hi'ya,

I was wondering what the user experience was like for the desktop bound test and review professionals.  You're only letting registered folks get the new love.

Sparx in the Windows Store... Not the graveyard posting of the Visual Studio desktop-bound fanatics and ribbon interface haters.

Anyone had any luck using MS TouchDevelop scripting with the automation model?

How does EA support mobile devices?  Can the WinPhone app just post the movie of that user requirement session to the use case narrative library.

Is there any noticeable improvement to Siri search requests?  "what's this?", touch point help announcement chatter-bots.

Bet it's not even a little RT friendly.

Any delights? Or terrible RC woes and terrors?

Hi..

Has anyone tried to connect EA to the online preview of TFS?

I haven't had a chance to try this myself, my instinct is that the answer is probably a qualified yes.  I'm asking in response to a client enquiry...

Thank you in advance, regards

General Board / EA and Azure SQL
« on: October 10, 2012, 01:48:27 am »
Hello again ;-)

Can the model repository installed and run from an SQL Azure database?  I'm assuming that there is no problem with using an SQL instance running in a virtual machine...

I'm sorry if I'm seem to be posting a lot today.... Same client enquiry I'm trying to answer...

Thank you, regards

General Board / Use of Roslyn to manipulate EA Generated stuff
« on: May 09, 2012, 06:17:09 am »
Hello, have you used visual studio, EA and Rosyln insights.

Wondering if Rosyln has helped any of you folks.  I would have thought that an intelligent post build would have much application.

Some class and object properties are instructions to the runtime.

Has anyone discovered a drag, drop and connect for Sparx EA or IBM RSA... rather than tapping away at the keyboard.

General Board / Importing a Sequence Diagram (s)
« on: March 03, 2010, 02:38:26 am »
Hello Guys,

Me and my new boss, was looking around for something interesting and usefull for me to do the other night.  We was playing with the Sequence Diagram Generator in Visual Studio 2010, when caught by one of our jolly jumpers (sales folks).  Who's run around select clients (folks who depend on IBM Rational Tools (RSM+.Net) and found some EA teams) who said they'd try out 'our' tool.

I had a look at the Microsoft SD, seemingly easy xml thingie...

Is it possible to construct a Sequence Diagram in EA via automation?

Can a Sequence Diagram be transformed into a Communication Summary Diagram (I'm thinking of combining a number of SDs into one CSD)?

Thanks for any help,
Kevin [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]
