General Board / BRD and SDD new releases
« on: March 20, 2022, 01:38:01 am »
March is a great month, besides what is happening in the world we have updated both of my eBooks:

UML-ERP Workshop at www.leanpub.com
Designing an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System with the UML modeling tool, Enterprise Architect.

1-Writing a Business Requirement Document (BRD) for the Inventory module.
2-Writing a Software Design Document (SDD) a Data Driven Report Engine.

Anyone trying to develop a system within their organization has been faced with many competing demands. Demands come from those responsible for establishing the guidance for the organization, the industry standards that are designed to assist in establishing direction, the features provided by the available tool sets in this space, and those who are impacted by the direction as they attempt to do their daily work. I will teach you how I have implemented in different organizations how to write a BRD and an SDD.
There is no shortage of articles about the right or best way to create a BRD or an SDD, and there are lots of potential approaches, you can learn the concepts by completing inter-actives exercises with what UML-ERP Workshop offers you.

You can purchase the BRD or the SDD at Leanpub.com, or we have an offer to buy both as a bundle.

Happy reading guys.

In this eBook we present all the classes, tables, indexes, and diagrams that any architect or developer can create following our UML design to develop a web based engine with SQL tables as back-end. The engine should work with any report writer in the market, we used R&R Report Works®.

Hi All

UML - ERP Workshop - Writing a Business Requirement Document (BRD with) Enterprise Architect

After several years updating the eBook I have decided to divide the BRD in functional section with new prices, each section will cover a different part: (1) the Processes covers the transaction processes, (2) the Maintenance covers the data entry, (3) the Report covers how to run reports and finally, the (4) Settings covers how to set up parameters for a system. If you still want all of them together you can still get the (5) Full BRD.

(1) https://leanpub.com/umlerpworkshop-process-brd

(2) https://leanpub.com/umlerpworkshop-maintenance-brd

(3) https://leanpub.com/umlerpworkshop-report-brd

(4) https://leanpub.com/umlerpworkshop-settings-brd

(5) https://leanpub.com/uml-erpworkshop

These 5 books helps you design an application with the UML (Unified Modeling Language) modeling tool, Enterprise Architect. It shows you how to write a Business Requirement Document (BRD) using a real-life Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, an application with 20 years in the market.

Thanks all for your support.

General Board / MariaDB suuport
« on: June 21, 2016, 08:50:33 am »
Hi All

After playing with MariaDB for several hours and is so similar to MySql.

Did all my steps to install MariaDB, downloaded and ODBC Driver 2.0.11 win 32, run the scrips at the MariaDB Server to create empty EA Tables.
All OK, have connection to the DB Server.

When I did the last step:
Project | Data Management | Project Transfer, I get an error message:

"The selected target database driver is not supported by EA"

I see that MariaDB is not supported. But looking at the similarity of MySQL and MariaDB I though it would do the transfer.

Any help can be appreciated.
Thanks

General Board / Use Case - Uses and Result
« on: October 26, 2013, 03:27:04 am »
Hi All

I use very often in my Use Cases the Uses and Result columns in each step. The Uses -> I use it for my Business Rule or message at the step level, same for the Result -> I use it for the Log Event, which database to write and what to write.

My question is how can I add a word before the Uses and Result and print them only if the step has a Uses or Result.

If I add the 2 words, it allways print them and it doesn't look good, see my example:

1. User inputs name Uses BR01
2. User imputs last name  Uses BR02
3. User inputs email Uses - No Busines Rule, but still prints Uses

{Scenario_Structured.Step}. {Scenario_Structured.Action} Uses {Scenario_Structured.Uses} Result {Scenario_Structured.Result}

Is there a way to exclude the "Uses" and "Result" word  if nothing is included at the column level, if I don't include the "Uses" and "Result", everything works great, it only print if we have someting in the column.

Thanks in advance
