« on: October 25, 2018, 09:52:57 am »
CRESWICK, Australia October 23, 2018

FORMATION OF JOINT VENTURE BETWEEN SPARX SYSTEMS PTY LTD ( AUSTRALIA ) AND SIXTH FORCE PTE LTD ( INDIA ) AND ACQUISITION BY SPARX SYSTEMS OF 50% SHARE IN SIXTH FORCE "PROLABORATE" SOURCE CODE.

Sparx Systems Pty Ltd ( Australia ) and Sixth Force Pte Ltd ( India ) are pleased to announce the formation of a Joint Venture ( JV ) to exclusively develop, market and distribute the software product known as Prolaborate as a core component of Sparx Systems Pro Cloud Server.

Sparx Systems Pty Ltd has acquired a 50% share in the Prolaborate software code base and has undertaken to tightly couple the Prolaborate code with their Pro Cloud Server, to market, distribute and manage all aspects of delivering Prolaborate to the wider Sparx Systems community. Sixth Force will continue to develop, enhance, support and evangelize the Prolaborate software product in collaboration with Sparx Systems.

Sparx Systems' CEO, Geoffrey Sparks, commented:
"Prolaborate is a perfect compliment to our Pro Cloud Server offering and brings the benefits of modeling and design based solutions to a much wider audience. With highly customized and tailored views of Enterprise Architect models it is the perfect platform for delivering tightly focused information to selected audiences in a way that optimizes the content for a target stakeholder. We are excited to be forming this JV with Sixth Force and look forward to a very positive outcome for all users of Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect and Pro Cloud Server."

Sixth Force CEO, Nizam Mohamed, said:
"The flexibility and adaptability of Enterprise Architect have made it the tool of choice for architects, business modelers, and systems engineers across the world. This move by Sparx Systems is visionary and emphasizes its strong commitment to the Business and Architecture modeling ecosystem. The Prolaborate platform intelligently leverages the model data in Enterprise Architect to allow the wider user community to analyze, interact and take key decisions. Tightly integrated with Pro Cloud Server, Prolaborate fosters social collaboration, agility, and transparency across the Enterprise, facilitating a truly digital architecture platform. This merger is a significant boost for Prolaborate and its customers and will greatly simplify the decision process in choosing a trusted and reliable modeling solution for the enterprise."

This announcement represents another step in Sparx Systems' wider strategy to share the information modeled in Enterprise Architect with the broader enterprise. Geoffrey Sparks explained:
"As technology has become a key driver of business growth and innovation, business users and C-Suite executives need a window into the enterprise architectures, processes, software and systems that are helping drive their enterprise strategy. Enterprise Architect repositories contain a wealth of information which can drive innovation, and to harvest that information we need to offer a tailored, interactive view. We believe Prolaborate is the key to providing this capability and effectively engaging people in ongoing digital transformation"

General Board / Re: Import EA4BI into EA v14
« on: May 16, 2018, 12:07:17 pm »
Import an MDG Technology is a different function from importing an XMI.

To import an MDG technology, select the following from the ribbon.

Specialize > Technologies > Publish > Import UML Technology.

General Board / Re: Sparx EA V14 B 1419 Installation issue
« on: May 16, 2018, 11:34:34 am »
We suspect that the Windows Defender controlled access is preventing the installer from adding the shortcut to the desktop. Unfortunately, our test environment using the same Windows build is allowing the install to complete despite getting the notification about svchost changes being blocked.

What edition of Windows 10 are you using?
What folders are protected by the Windows Defender Controlled Folder Access setting?
Could you run the install with full logging and send the log in? An alternative would be running sysinternals procmon and sending in the log it records.

14
Baselines with the 'BaselineOf=' setting have been moved aside during XMI export. The only reason they should still be around is the EA crashed or was killed during an import.

Bugs and Issues / Re: EA 14.0: Find in Browser odd behaviour
« on: May 16, 2018, 09:38:33 am »
The find in project browser command was removed.

My experience is that because it relies on the items being added to the tree the performance is usually unacceptable on a non-trivial model, that and I tend to know if I'm searching for a diagram, element, attribute or operation in advance.
