General Board / Generate reports
« on: July 08, 2008, 07:28:54 am »
1) How can one generate a report which starts from a use case and then via its links navigate down to the related use case realization and fetches its related diagrams?

2) Also, does it exist a repository of RTF document templates anywhere on the web?

3) How can nested elements or child elements be consumed and rendered differently? E.g. we have a use case element containing diagrams and other subelements (stereotyped as mini-UCs) with additional diagrams.

4) How can a diagram be fetched from a nested element and be treated differently than the parent element's diagram in a rtf report? Using right-click on the nested element in the RTF-editor does not give any options for diagrams.

Bugs and Issues / Re: Version control - lost relations
« on: July 08, 2008, 06:41:08 am »
Hi, we had similar problems using Perforce for version control. After many serious model crashes (diagrams loose elements, lines missing anywhere in the model) we had to remove version control and rely only on the shared database. Using hourly backup on the db and sometimes doing database transfer to a local eap file for backup we have now managed to get a stable work environment.

We contacted Sparx several times and the late answer was that version control does not work well, because Perforce connections are not fully implemented yet...?

Bugs and Issues / Document definition - RTF report
« on: July 08, 2008, 07:51:33 am »
Whe autogenerating previously saved rtf reports (see the resources view -> RTF documents) then some of the does not generate any content. Is it a bug? I had a UC Overview and two UC reports which worked fine to generate the "F8" way, but not via the resource view.

Bugs and Issues / Re: Weird behaviour with nested version control
« on: July 08, 2008, 07:09:16 am »
We hade similar problems using Perforce for version control and nested controlled packages gave us a lot of trouble, especially the root.

Our solution was to skip version control and use only the shared db and let our server (hourly backup) be our lifeguard.

We enabled user security, use locking but do not require user to do it.

Also the import function is dangerous - Why is the "Strip GUIDs" checkbox not checked by default? When importing the same data twice by mistake it actually trashed our diagrams elsewhere in the model. The warning says "data will be overwritten in the current package".

I am creating a custom report by building a folder structure and adding the folders to a "model document" report.

I create new diagrams, put them in the folder structure, and drag and drop existing diagrams (as frame) taken from the source location in my models.

The report is created fine with diagrams but I have not managed to get the source diagram note. How can that be done?
