so we can use those to make new elements and use them as the image assets.  This is very helpful.  I thought they needed to be put in the image library to be used.

General Board / Image Library Exist for Standard Images?

Is there an image library that already exists for standard images?  With all the Azure and AWS images out there, it is time consuming to import these.  Previously I used this image library "https://sparxsystems.com/resources/image_library.html", but I was wondering if there is another set of images that can be imported for newer images?  I'm really looking for the Azure/Microsoft images.

PCS General Board / WebEA Unable to Open PDF

When I'm trying to open a PDF/xlsx in WebEA, I get an error saying it isn't a valid file format or file extension.  We are on 15.2.  These open just fine when I open them in the main Enterprise Architect client.  When I click on the file and am prompted to download it.  I have tried both options 1) to save onto my laptop then open and 2) open with respective application.  When i do either option the error comes up.

Any reason this is happening?

Hi, of your 500 diagrams, do you have sequence diagrams?  The Freeze Visible isn't a property you should set. I have found issues with setting this property on sequence diagrams.  It is a known bug/issue. 

So would the API need to know to skip sequence diagrams?

General Board / Can you Add "Updated by" to the Diagram Property Note?

Is there any way to add “Updated By” to the Diagram Property Note? Right now, it has Name, Author, Version, Created, Updated as the default values displayed.  We are looking to capture who updated/modified the diagram as well as when it was Updated.

If this can be done via script, can you please explain how to do that or provide a sample script? Also how to apply the script?

We are on v15.2.

Please advise.

General Board / How to Hide the Browser Fully Qualified Name

I've been looking for this option but I apparently don't know how to reference it correctly to find it in the support pages.  In the browser window, when you expand a package the names show like they have a fully qualified name in front  of the package name.  I'm looking to know how to turn this off.  Mine doesn't show this but everyone else here does have this showing, so I'm thinking someone turned this off on mine when I first started using EA Sparx.

Mine looks like this:
  Root Node Name
    Package Name
      Package Name
         Diagram Name

Others see this:
  Root Node Name
    Package Name
      <<fully qualified name>>Package Name
         <<fully qualified name>>Diagram Name

With this name being so long it's hard to always see what the actual name of the package/diagram/element is, with out having to keep scrolling to the right in the browser window.

I hope this makes sense to someone and can explain to me how to run this off or what it is actually called so I can find it in the support pages.

General Board / Re: Lost Information Item Conveyed Functionality

Update:  I realized that my elements were locked because they were "promoted" to where we keep our final/production state diagrams/elements.  We do this so if someone is to change diagram or element they would need to get a copy via TimeAware clone process. Other connectors work just fine they can be added to these locked elements, just not the "conveyed Item" function of the Information flow connector.

So how do I keep these items locked so not everyone can make any change to the element they want, but still allow the Information Flow connector work as it should?  What am I missing?

General Board / Lost Information Item Conveyed Functionality

I somehow lost the ability to use the "Information Item Conveyed" Functionality of the "Information Flow" connector.  I was using it previously and didn't have any issues but now I don't get the "Add" button to activate.

I was don't some creating and removing of some new security groups but they were not associated with users yet, one group was but it had no permissions any longer and so I removed it.  But one login I tested with was never associated with these new groups or any I removed.  It was/is in a different group entirely.

Where is the permission for this functionality located?  How can I get this back?

Please HELP!!

So I am used to using Copy to Clipboard -> Full Structure for Duplication . I used this a few days ago and it worked fine. I could even paste just fine. But now when I use this function, for a second it shows the progress bar like it is starting the copy, then this error comes up:
    Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers [-2147217913]
    [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server] Conversion failed
    when converting the nvarchar value 'Approved' to data type int.

I haven't done anything with any "Approved" context.  I don't even know where "Approved" is used outside of the "Status" field in the Properties window.  Although everything I've done in Sparx, that field is left as the default value: Proposed.

Any idea on what happened?  Or how I can get back to how to make this copy function work again?

General Board / Hide Browser/Property View in WebEA via Config file

Hi,
I'm using WebEA and I'm wanting to hide the Browser and hide the Property View by default when logging into WebEA. I know that by  using 'Mobile' or 'Tablet', the default will be to hide.  But I'm wanting to hide them no mater which option they choose ('Mobile' or 'Tablet' or 'Desktop'). So I was thinking there was a property in the WebEA Config file, but I can only find reference in the help files that talk about them hiding on 'Mobile' or 'Tablet' selection.

Please advise on how I can get the Browser and/or Property View to hide in WebEA?

We are running EA Sparx 15 and ProCloud server 3.

Regarding: create such a "custom table" I will have a look
 - That's what I'm asking: how can I create this type of a table.
      - Does the table need to be created outside of Sparx or can it be created inside Sparx? I have a spreadsheet with about 20 column (Ex: First Name, Last Name, etc).
      - Is the Custom Table Artifact the only way to do this?

I was hoping there was a way to do this with the Database Builder.  Or is this only for creating table and not really for storing data? I thought it could possibly store data since there was a SQL Scratch Pad.

I need to be able to load more data from a spreadsheet at various times.
 - If this can only be done with a Custom Table Artifact:
     - is there an easier way to load the data than to manually append rows in the Data Tagged Value in XML?
     - I'm not very familiar with Javascript, is there a sample that I can use to do a select?
 - If this can be done in the Database Builder, is there a link to the instructions?

General Board / Spreadsheet to Table then Query

Hi,
I have a spreadsheet that I'd like to import into Sparx, but I want to keep it as a table since I'm needing to query the data. Is the Custom Table Artifact the only way to do this?  If so, how do I perform a query against the data?  I know SQL and can write my own Select statements. The Custom Table just looks like it is for displaying all it's content on the diagram. 

I'm not really needing this to be on a diagram, more of just a table I can load and then do query to find the data.  Once I have the data selected I'm wanting to either export it or copy it to be placed in a spreadsheet.

We are on Version 15.1 use a SQL Server database.

Suggestion or instructions are very welcome.

General Board / How to Depict File Transfers and then Find Them Later

I have been asked to implement a way to document file transfers/webservice calls in Sparx so they could later be “reported” on to address the need to know what file transfers exist between systems and/or applications in diagrams.  I have all applications setup as a component element to be reused in multiple diagrams so there is the trackability to know how different diagrams can be used to make a complete picture of a system. But I’m not sure how to depict file transfers between applications or systems.
-   For those familiar with the “RICEF”, we have a spreadsheet that holds most file transfers and details about them. But it isn’t sustainable to keep this information in a separate spreadsheet, so we want to have this same info and connectivity depicted in our diagrams.

I have a question on which diagram/elements are best to use to represent the files and then how to do a search/report to find them later. We get audits that we need to produce a list or document that can show, for specific applications, what files are all sent/received to other applications/systems.

I am attempting to do this by using the “Interface” element and use attributes of the Interface element for details like frequency, integration type, criticality, description, file format. Then use an Information Flow connector to go from the originating application component to the interface element and then from the interface element to the destination application component. But I don’t know how to then “find” these interfaces to show during an audit.

I just don’t know if I’m going down the right path on how to create a diagram with these file transfers. Nor can I figure out how to find these file transfers later to show when requested.  Any help or suggestions appreciated.

We are EA Sparx 15.1 and the latest version of ProCloud.  We do use WebEA but don’t have Prolaborate purchased.
