General Board / Custom search - gone
« on: Today at 06:57:02 pm »
Hello all,

I created several custom searches , that were visible under "My Searches" in "Find in Project" search window.  The were used in some Relationship Matrixes.  After switching to EA 16 I can't see them anymore.  I suppose they are still in the database - would you happen to know how to find them back ?

Best regards
Marcin

General Board / Element filters - missing stereotypes

Hi,

when creating custom document templates, one can use element filters to include only elements matching filter criteria.  However, it seems that some stereotypes missing , like 'view'.  Do you know where can those stereoptypes be addeed ?

General Board / SQLQuery object - query code
« on: February 11, 2022, 11:11:48 pm »
Hello,

when doing data modelling , there is a possibility of using object named of type SQLQuery.  Contrary to i.e. View, it does not seem to have a proper place to store SQL code of its definition, part of a tag attribute SQL that does not seem to be linked to any bigger text field.  I am aware that using Database Builder make possible to record such queries, but there is a reason I do not want to use database builder.
I can use Note attribute of the element, but I was hoping there would be a dedicate attribute with similar availability as Note.

Does anyone have any idea ?

Best regards
Marcin

General Board / Re: User defined search - element attributes

No, that's not a typo - I am checking two different tags.  For one tag - all my objects for particular project will have the same value, so I am checking the value.  But then, for those objects, I need to get a value of another tag (property).

Thank you Geert,

I think I must have been not very clear in my description ;-).  I did it like this :
Code: [Select]
SELECT distinct bi_object.ea_guid , bi_object.Object_ID, bi_object.Name, bi_object.Alias, t_objectproperties.Value
from
(
SELECT distinct t_object.ea_guid , t_object.Object_ID, t_object.Name, t_object.Alias, t_objectproperties.Value
from t_object,t_objectproperties
WHERE
t_objectproperties.Object_ID = t_object.Object_ID
and t_objectproperties.Value = 'MyType') as bi_object
join t_objectproperties on t_objectproperties.Object_ID = bi_object.Object_ID
WHERE t_objectproperties.Property = 'MyProperty'

it seems to be doing exactly what I need it to do :-)

Thank you.  I know I need to join those two.  But as it is 1:M , filtering by any value from t_objectproperties will automatically eliminate any other record which contains values I need.

General Board / User defined search - element attributes
« on: February 01, 2022, 08:32:04 pm »
Hi,

I have some elements, for which I defined tagged values.  There might be : Element {Type=MyType, AnotherTag=MyTag} and Element2 {Type=MyType, AnotherTag=DifferentTag}.
Is there any simple way to either build a query, or use SQL query (without pivots etc), that would allow finding Element + AnotherTag, using Type as filter (or part of where clause) ?

Best regards

General Board / Model search - sharing custom searches
« on: January 06, 2022, 09:05:25 pm »
Hi,

I created some specific searches related to one of our projects. There is no security applied in the EA, so everyone accesses it with the same (presumably) permissions.  Those searches are both custom searches build with Query Builder, and some with SQL Editor.  Some users can see them.  Some cannot.  Would you happen to have any idea why certain users do not see those searches, not even "My Searches" in the Find window ?

Best,
Marcin

General Board / Project management model - tasks and resources
« on: November 30, 2021, 10:43:41 pm »
Hello,

we are using Project Management model to run our project through Scrum methodology.  It seems however that allocation of resources to elements (i.e. tasks) does not show graphically on the element.
The same resource allocation to other elements, (i.e. Kanban::Feature on Kanban board) works fine and resource allocation with a progress bar is displayed, as described here.

Does anyone know how to ensure such allocation is visible ?

I think you can only change the font size for ALL connectors, not for individual ones.

Geert

Geert, how ? Please ...

It seems that some people do not like zooming in because they cannot then see the whole picture.  So they ask for font size to be changed on connectors.  Would any of you have any idea how to change an appearance of a connector, so that the text associated with it could use a bigger font ?

Please don't throw stones at me ...

General Board / Smart data import (from CSV/XLS) ?
« on: September 15, 2021, 01:57:06 am »
Hello,

Is there any way to import a list , that would contain e.g parent and child, allowing EA to create both parent, child, and dependency between them (specified in the list) ?  Not even dreaming about specifying different packages to import parent and child, but such small magic would already be helpful.

Any hints here :-) ?

Best regards
Marcin
