General Board / Re: Common Warehouse Metamodel (CWM)?
« on: January 28, 2002, 04:42:53 am »
Hello,

At this stage we really haven't looked at CWM in great detail, so we will make a note of your point and see what we can include in a future version of EA.  Thanks for the feedback.

General Board / Re: Rose to External format
« on: January 28, 2002, 02:56:22 am »
Hello,

I cannot comment on importing into Visio.  However on the subject of importing Rose information into EA.  We currently do not have any plans to directly interfacte with Rose model files - however we do have an XMI import capability (which has some limitations due to the nature of XMI) ... you can use this import facility by installing the Rose Unisys XMI tools (available from the Rose site for free) and exporting your Rose model to UML 1.3 compliant XMI. This can then be imported into EA. A reasonable amount of touch up work is still required after importing ... but the main model elements are imported  OK.

Hope this helps.

Hello,

We will try and make it sooner than months, I usually tend over estimate timeframes.  We hope to look at this within the next couple of weeks.

Hello,

At a guess I would says months, because at this stage we have not had many users requests this functionality.  We realise that it is a necessary function, however requests that have been requested by many users will take priority.

Hello,

We have no fixed date on this request, all request are based on priorities and that is measured by the number of requests from different people.  Sorry I can't be of more help.

General Board / Re: Delphi Properties
« on: January 16, 2002, 05:28:44 am »
Hello,

We will need to consider the ways we can implement this request, because it will require a rethink to the way EA works currently.  To this correctly an attribute really needs to be defined (FBatchName is the case below) as a property and EA automatically creates (virtual) operations (GetBatchName and SetBatchName) that can't be modified manually.  Currently there is no link between the attributes and operations.

Do you agree?

General Board / Re: Cannot open existing project - Fatal Error
« on: January 16, 2002, 05:34:34 am »
Jan,

Can you reproduce this problem (EA crashing)?  Can you zip up the project in question and send it to  support@sparxsystems.com.au .  In the past the only time we have experienced problems with a project being corrupted is when the network drive (where the project resides on) becomes unavailable while someone is working in the application.

General Board / Re: Upgrade 440 -> 443 doesn't work
« on: January 16, 2002, 05:18:32 am »
Hello,

Just to let everyone else know, andyqp has been in contact with us via email and we have upgraded his project files manually.  We are still investigating the cause of the problem, but at this stage it looks like MS Jet is experiencing problems determining whether a project is a replica or not, particularly when the design master has been moved from its original location.

Hello,

We have just uploaded a 3.03 version EABase.eap project and updated the webpage.  Sorry for the inconvenience.

General Board / Re: Data Model Column Constraints
« on: January 13, 2002, 04:32:52 pm »
Hello,

By the sounds of what you are describing, the relationship is a foreign key, is this right?  Probably the easiest way to explain how to document a foreign key in UML is to download a copy of the DatabaseModelingInUML.pdf that we have available here:  http://www.sparxsystems.com.au/bin/DatabaseModelingInUML.pdf

It is worth having a read through the Data Modeling pdf, if you plan to use EA to document your database design etc.

Hope this helps.

Hello,

Build number 423 a one of the early release of version 3.00, a number of the points you have raised should have been address in builds since 423.  In fact the latest build is currently being uploaded, v3.10 build 440.  I would suggest downloading this release trying these points again.  thanks

Just to update this post, we have been in correspondance with James (via email).  At this stage he only receives this problem on a single machine and we are trying to track down the problem with his help.  We have suggested that he install the latest version of EA v3.10.

Hello,

As mentioned in our email correspondance this problem has been fixed in the latest release of EA v3.10 build 440.  For registered users this is available now, the upload is currently running for trial users.

« on: January 08, 2002, 02:27:23 am »
Hello,

We are not exactly sure why you are having these troubles, by defining a language macro EA should ignore them totally.  Would it be possible for you to send a code sample (.h file(s)) that the errors are occuring with, that way we can test what is happening.

Hello,

In short, No.  We have not experienced any problem like the ones you are describing and to the best of our knowledge neither has any other user.  Version 3.10 will be available in the next few hours so I suggest you give that release a test.  Please let us know if you continue to experience these problems.
