Hello all,
I am wanting to use the API to extract the profile used to set the stereotype for an element.  I can get the stereotype but have not found anything in the API that gives me the profile, does anyone know how to do this.

Currently can not tell visually what has been selected e.g. whether header row is on or off, other than by running a report.  It would be great if there was a tick against the item if it had been selected (there is space in the GUI.

General Board / importing XPDL

Has anyone any experience of importing XPDL into Sparx or converting Sparx XMI to XPDL?

General Board / sizing a DBMS server
« on: February 24, 2014, 10:42:34 pm »
We want to get a DBMS server set up, the admins are wanting sizing information and the answer 'do not worry, wont use a huge amount of space' is not good enough. The model will start as just being busines architectue.

The data I have to gleaned to date is the following:
Network latency no greater than 100 m/s
200 Mb RAM should be sufficient for even a large repository

Can anyone give me any figures on the amount of disc space used by their repositories and a guess at whether their repository is small, medium or large.  this will also help us estimate how much disc space might be needed in the future.

General Board / Managing use case requirements
« on: November 09, 2012, 12:08:33 am »
We are identifying our requirements in advance and mapping them to use cases that will deliver them using realisation links.  In some cases these are existing use cases that will need to be updated when the new requirements come into scope so these use cases have delivered and pending requirements associated with them.

I am looking for a way of when we generate documents they only include the pending requirments and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions.  I had thought to make the delivered requirements internal but have not found a way to move an external requirement into a use case.

General Board / Profile Stereotype not working
« on: July 10, 2012, 11:31:58 pm »
We are using a profile for modelling.  The profile appears in the resources browser and in the toolbox but you can no longer use it: drag and drop does not work, it does not appear in the element properties stereotypes list and if I manually type in a stereotype name for a new element it is ignored.  Has anyone else experienced this?

I have looked but can not find an option to enable/disable profiles.

I am on the latest version of EA.

General Board / How to create multi selection tags in a profile
« on: February 08, 2012, 10:35:27 pm »
I have been trying to create a tag in a stereotype which allows more than one value to be selected from the list and have failed dismally.  Has anyone cracked this?

General Board / modelling business reports
« on: February 13, 2010, 04:28:38 am »
I am working on a reporting module for an application and would like to explicitly model which class attributes are used in which reports.  Has any one else done this?  I am not sure what would be the best way.

Uml Process / Finding where a InformationItem is conveyed
« on: May 20, 2014, 08:42:43 pm »
I can run a report to ouput all the information items conveyed on connections on a diagram but I can not find a way to output all the connections a selected informationItem is used on (I have not delved into scripting or SQL).  Has anyone else tried to do this?

Uml Process / tracing from Activities to Actions
« on: January 10, 2014, 05:30:18 am »
I am looking to use actions on activity diagrams (as recommended by Geert :-)).  I am anticipating that the users will want to be able to find every diagram that an action for an activity appears on in order to do impact analysis, but I have not found a way to do this.  Does anyone Know how to do this?

(I am trying to avoid having to put in manual links)

Uml Process / Modelling migrating multiple legacy data sources
« on: March 15, 2012, 09:16:32 pm »
I have had a search here and in the community site and have not found anything on this.

We need to specifiy the migration of legacy data from various sources to a new consolidated data structure and would like to do this in EA rather than a spreadsheet.

My idea is that once we have loaded the physical schemas for the legacy and new databases we use intermediary class operations to document the transformations needed to convert a legacy attribute to the new attribute.  Does anyone have any suggestions for alternative ways of doing this?

Hi all,
I have written some SQL to extract user security information using Project Search.  I would like to reuse it in a report to provide it in a standard format.
I created a template fragment, added the SQL to it and added the custom fields in to the custom section.  I then created a report template and added the template in to the package section as there was no option to add it in to the custome section.
When I ran the report there was not output.  Have I missed something or is this not supported (because the SQL does not refer to a package or element).

I am transferring data from a non EA repository into EA.  The data includes connectors.  I can create connectors Ok but if the target and source are the same the subsequent update of the connector with additional values fails.  Has anyone else come across this? code below.

                   With theRelConn
                        .alias = theConnID 'From the source repository
                        .Notes = ActiveCell.Offset(0, 2).Value
                        .ClientEnd.Role = ActiveCell.Offset(0, 7).Value
                        .ClientEnd.Cardinality = Chr(ActiveCell.Offset(0, 9).Value)
                        .SupplierEnd.Role = ActiveCell.Offset(0, 8).Value
                        .SupplierEnd.Cardinality = ActiveCell.Offset(0, 10).Value
                    End With

I have a profile in which I have linked 2 stereotypes with a tagged value connector.
The stereotypes appear OK when I import the profile and when I click on the tagged value defined by the connector the selection dialogue comes up; however, the dialogue allows me to select any type of element whereas I was expecting it to restrict the selection the stereotype that is the target of the connector.
I am sure this worked OK when I did it a couple of years ago. Has anyone else encountered this or have I missed something in setting up the connector?

Automation Interface, Add-Ins and Tools / memo tags in stereotypes
« on: December 19, 2012, 02:47:07 am »
I have created profile stereotypes with tags as <memo> so that I am not constrained in the amount of text they can hold.  The only downside is that the word <memo> and any explanatory text is always output, has anyone found a way of avoiding this (the reason being that otherwise the users have to edit each tag even if they do not need to use it).
