Bugs and Issues / Re: Enterprise Architect 13 cannot display tooltips
« on: November 09, 2016, 01:08:06 am »
Oh my god  :o.
Did Sparx really remove tooltips in favor of text in the status bar?
I also was wondering where the tooltips are, since I installed EA 13. Good thing I mostly know the icons.
Nevertheless, this is crazy. Tooltips are standard nowadays.

Bugs and Issues / Re: Get All Latest that never completed

... but also prohibits wrong use of get all latest.
Use EA security and create a "Developer" user group that does not have the right to invoke "Get all latest...".
All users except "key users" (e.g. dedicated admins or SW architects) should be part of that group.

I don't know if the unfinished "Get all latest" can be cancelled "globally" for the model.

What I do know: A user trying to checkout a package and getting  the message "Get all latest in progress. Continue anyway?" (or something like that) can simply continue.
The checkout will be performed without problems.
This is not a real solution, but it ensures that working can be continued.

Thanks a lot for your help :).

I assigned the following privileges now:
  • Insert (= write = W?)
  • Select (= read = R?)
  • Update (= U?)
  • Delete (= D?)
As far as I can see, I can work without any problems now.
I assume my mapping of "R/W/U/D" to the privilege names of PostgreSQL is OK. Can anyone confirm this, or was I just lucky :).

we are having all our EA models on a PostgreSQL server.
The server is configured to have a login role named "ea_user" that has superuser rights as role privileges.
EA uses "ea_user" and its configured password to login into the database(s).

I feel a little bit uncomfortable for a long time with the superuser rights to "ea_user".
What kind of access rights or privileges does a login role need as minimum for being able to do all possible tasks when EA connects to the database using that login role?

If reasonable possible I would like to cut the number of access rights of "ea_user" to the minimum.

It is in the registry!
Have a look at this:,26830.0.html

If you find a "solution" for the hashed connection string please inform me :).

No idea how this can be found in the ribbon interface.

General Board / Re: Keystore service with AUTHMETHOD=AM_SSKSGROUP
« on: June 21, 2016, 04:56:23 pm »
Hello Aaron,

this is exactly what I was looking for.
My "root problem" was not to know how to add a user name to the keystore server address.

Many thanks for that. This saves us from setting up an additional server (physical or virtual machine) running a second keystore service with only the SysML (System Engineering Edition) licenses.

General Board / Keystore service with AUTHMETHOD=AM_SSKSGROUP
« on: June 17, 2016, 04:32:46 pm »

I am experimenting with the keystore service configured to authentication method AUTHMETHOD=AM_SSKSGROUP.
With the configuration seen below I found out the the UserName=g52873 corresponds to the Windows login name. But this way a "group" only consists of one user.
What I would like to have is a group consisting of several users
In our company we have of course no "shared logins", but individual Windows logins.

I would like to have a configuration allowing a list of users to use System Engineering Edition licenses.
Ideally all other users only get Corporate Edition licenses (we only have these two types of licenses in our key store.

Is the AUTHMETHOD=AM_SSKSGROUP the right way to achieve this or is this wrong?

My keystoreService.config file:
Code: [Select]
My keystoreservice.ssksgroupconfig:
Code: [Select]
Name=SysML Users

Do I hear some sarcasm in your posts :)?
Or at least a bit of irony or desperation?

No reaction on bug report so far.

@T Kouno
We have this issue in build 1229 (which is latest today) and in all builds back to EA 7.5. So definitely not fixed :(.

I sent a detailed report about 1 hour ago (2:15 pm CEST) using the web form.
I am really curious about what happens now :).

I am the admin 8) and you are right.
The same behavior can be observed, when no network connection to the keystore server is present when starting EA.

So we have "license dementia" when:
  • license server is accessible, but no license is available as all licenses are checked-out
  • license server is not accessible when starting EA

Bugs and Issues / EA forgets its configuration on floating license
« on: April 14, 2016, 04:51:38 pm »

we are using the Sparx Keystore service for providing our floating licenses to the EA users.
From time to time all licenses are in use.
A user that starts EA, when all licenses are in use, gets an error message (as expected):
No available key for Enterprise Architect could be found.
Enter a key or connect to new keystore now?
[Yes]  [No]
After clicking on "No", because I know that no license is available, EA forgets that it had a "corporate floating" license configured previously.
When I "restart" EA afterwards the "License Management" dialog window appears where I can add or remove license keys.
In that dialog no license key is mentioned.

Can anybody confirm this behavior?
Why does EA forget about which license it has been configured?
Any idea how to prevent that EA forgets which license has been configured?

If anybody can confirm this I will report this as bug, as this is really annoying.
Many thanks.

General Board / Re: Cloud Services license requirement

According to comparison of the EA editions ( you need at least the Corporate Edition as client.
The "cloud service" itself (that "thing" that can be installed as Windows service) does not need any additional license as long as you are registered user at Sparx. Only then download is possible.
