I vote for this. It could enable collaborative development of innovative ideas on features for EA.

Suggestions and Requests / Re: UWE support in Enterprise Architect
« on: September 05, 2010, 09:04:36 am »
I support this suggestion.

I have in the past requested this feature in EA. A competing CASE tool (MagicDraw) and an open source tool (ArgoUWE) both support this UML profile.

The OMG BMM and SVBR are hot!

I acknowledge Artisan Studio is a good product and has been used effectively by a company called Knowgravity to demonstrate its enterprise engineering capabilities.

i am keen to demonstrate that Sparxsystems Enterprise Architect is better by using the OMG's EU-Rent case study to develop an EA model similar to what Knowgravity achieved.

I've read some articles that map the ORM to the UML and it appears that this notation is better at capturing business rules in concept models and this may be a factor in its choice for the OMG SVBR specification.

I recommend the implementation of this profile by Sparxsystems given that there are open source developments on-going for the Visual Studio environment.

I will be raising a feature request.

Dear all,

I came across Keith Short's (Microsoft) blog on the Whitehorse Class Designer and Domain Specific Language.

Has anyone tested the Class Designer? I'd be interested in finding out how this environment delivers improved productivity over a tool like EA.

I appreciate all comments.

These requests have my vote!

I think that there are documents on using version control systems on the Sparxsystems web site. Reading trough may suggest a solution and if that does not help, please, contact user support directly.

I support this simple feature and more. Please, kindly raise a feature request.

Current best practice to domain concept models suggest the development of a domain taxonomy which guides the selection of the business concepts used in the domain model.

EA could parse the text of the business use cases and generate a candidate list of business concepts based on the tuple (subject, verb and Object).

An experience of "Sentence Diagraming" techniques (Check Arlow and Neustadt "Literate Modeling Techniques") suggests that above tuple may be applied to business use case statements to generate a candidate taxonomy. Use Google to search for a paper with the term "Taxonomic Class Modeling" (It wasa long time I read the article.).

My suggestions are already achieved in the areas of Ontology extraction from text corpus (Check OntoGen 2.0 for a prototype). I currently use the IBM Taxonomy tool to achieve the same purpose (Check IBM's web site for an evaluation copy)

I think that this approach would add a bit of intelligence to current approaches to class / concept modeling especially if this feature is backed by a thesaurus such as WordNet (Check Princeton University).

I hope this community will agree that we need a bit more intelligence in our tools.

kind regards

This is also a requirement in my environment where we are migrating to sharepoint. Supported.
