Profiles is what you are after.  You will need to create a umlprofile xml file and import it.  The easy way would be to modify one of the ones you can get from the EA web site.

There is some information about profiles in the help file that should be useful.

Tell me if I'm wrong, but I think the problem is when installing from a full setup.  Try replacing the old exe with the new one by extracting it (full setup).

I get the same results.  I think it used to work.

Farfetch,  do your team a favor and let those who spend the money see this post.  I don't think coparing a Model-T to a Porsche 926 is a fair comparison.  Also, I too have used Visio and have run into it's weaknesses.  If all you want is a drawing on a piece of paper, Visio will do that, you can probably get Word to do that as well.  If you want reports on the various UML diagrams, issues reports, time estimations, ..., you need a real CASE tool.  I challenge you to produce a Use Case report from Visio.  By report, I mean a document that displays  the heading information, scenarios, steriotype, tagged values, and all other user friendly (Management friendly) information that is tucked away inside the bubbles.  Last time I checked, there were only about 5 reports available from Visio (withoud coding one yourself).

I work for a company that is very reluctant to change and is Microsoft all the way.  I finally bought my own copy and couldn't be happier.  Get the current eval version and do some testing at home.

I think the Corporate Edition will be $20.00 USD more than the Professional version.  As far as Oracle, I'm sure it will be available.

In the new version, you will be able to lock elements (package being an element).  There are four lock levels:
1. No Lock. Do not lock this element - clear any existing lock
 2. Full lock. Lock this element so no-one can edit it
 3. User lock. Lock this element so only the locking user may make further edits
 4. Group lock. Lock this element so any member of the group specified may update the lement - but others are excluded

I think this is a bit flag in the underlying tables that disable the OK button in the Element Dialog.

Early testing seems to show that you have to touch each element you want locked, ie locking a package does not lock the package elements.  This will surely be changed as the current bugs are worked out.  I have not tested this in a collaborative environment yet, but it does look very promising.

A Branch with Previous Message option appears in the context menu of the (second, third, ...) message.  Selecting this will make a fork/branch.

Let us know if this is not the answer you are looking for.

Here is a reply I got back via email
Once MySQL and SQLServer are bedded down we will be looking at adding Oracle and
DB2  support. There should not be too many changes to make now the major changes
have been made.

I think the Help file documentation is a little out of date.  If the class has has a <<table>> stereotype, you will not see a Parameters tab for the operations (indexes).  You will instead see a Columns tab.  You must first select an operation/index to allow adding parameters/attributes/columns.

Hope this helps.

General Board / Re: Any Build Policy Change????

I have observed the same.  My guess is that they are about to release a new vesion and are focusing on that for now.  I do look forward to the new builds.  I think I feel like a junky needing a fix :P  One day at a time ;D

It sounds like you unfortunately have a small monitor set to a low resolution (640 x 480, 800 x 600).  Fortunately, I am able to see all 10 UC elements on my Outlook Toolbar.  One suggestion is to use the small Icons.  You can do this by opening the application properties dialog by navigating to the view menu and selecting Options...  From there, select Outlook Toolbar and check the options you want.

BTW, cool lion.

You say you have more references.  Please share.  I work for a company where there is the potential of purchasing software without fully exploring the options due to time constraints.  The decision is based on buzz words, magazine advertising, and perceived value. ???  Help me get some ammo to present to my leaders to help convince them of the true value of EA.  I have been using this tool for about 6 months and my world is a brighter place. 8)

You can do this through your local options dialog.  From the menu, select View -> Options...
In the Tree View, select Objects.  There will be a check box labeled 'Associate default = source -> target'.  Check this and I believe it will give you results you are looking for.

Sounds like the appearence changes when the onchange event fires for the dropdown.  After the change is made to the original object, all you need to do is click the paint brush on the other selected object(s).  Atleast, that works for me.

Does this help?

You have made the right choice.  I am glad to hear of your experience with Rose.  I will relay that on to some co-workers.

Now, down to business.
What diagram are you using and what procedure.  I haven't changed the color of many objects, but I was just able to change the color two objects (actually more as I am experimenting while writing this reply).  I am in a class diagram and I right click on the object.  In the context menu I select the Adjust Appearence option.  In the dialog box, I can change the Background Color, Font color, and Border Color.  I select the option I want to change, uncheck the Use Default color checkbox, and select a color from the Color Dialog.  I had no trouble doing this with several classes.  I even used the Appearence toolbar to copy the appearence of one object and paste it to many others.  I have had some difficulty with the UI Control from the Custom objects.  So, you may need to elaborate on what type of diagram and object you are changing.

As a side note for the developers at Sparx,  The Undo feature does not undo appearence alterations.
