Bugs and Issues / Input focus issue during Get All Latest
« on: February 07, 2018, 12:37:34 am »

a team colleague has a very weird problem with EA 13.5.1352: Whenever he performs a 'Get All Latest', EA intermittently steals the input focus from other applications (especially/only Office programs).
He is typing into Word or Outlook, and every few seconds he finds out that he is no longer typing into the right thing. Instead, focus has been grabbed by EA (while itís showing progress from Get All Latest), and he has to click on the Word or Outlook window again with the mouse to get the focus back and keep working. For him, it is quite reproducible.

Some other team members also observed that behavior, but only once or twice over the last months. One colleague observed this problem once when he worked with Office on the same monitor where EA was running the Get All Latest. If he runs EA on one monitor and works on the second one, he has no problems at all. For me, I never observed this and also cannot reproduce it in the way described before, so I have no idea what may cause it. Therefore, my questions:

  • Has anybody else observed this behavior?
  • If yes, do you know the root cause and probably a solution/workaround?
  • If not, has anybody any idea how to investigate this issue further? We are all using Windows 7 and Office 2016 on 2-3 monitors (including the notebook display), but only one of us gets the problem frequently.

Thanks and regards

Hi Geert,

thanks for the hint, it works perfectly fine with new diagrams! I guess changing all existing diagrams is not possible?

General Board / Disable "Show Namespace" by default/for all diagrams

is it possible to globally disable the "Show Namespace" option for all existing diagrams, which is available on the property page of a diagram? I only found the option "Disable fully scoped object names" in the global Diagram options/preferences, but that doesn't hide the package name below the component. Or is it at least possible to change the default behavior for new diagrams, so that this option is disabled by default for new diagrams?

Thanks and regards
