Hello, EA Experts,

I am trying to edit the Strategy map model available in EA but I am unable to edit the time.

I am unable to set the date between 23/07/2020 and 30/7/2021

When I pick "Custom" from the "Units" dropdown menu, I am unable to add any special character to separate the day, month and year

Thank you,

Hello, Geert,

Again, it seems that your tool is always the solution  :)

I don't have experience dealing with queries.

Where exactly should I add this line? at the end of the query (just copy and paste) or should I delete a line from the query and replace it with this line?

This is what I did...

But I must have done something wrong because I got an error message

Thank you!

Hello, EA experts

I am trying to import/export (from and to Excel) the "Initial Value" field under "Attributes (among other fields of course). I am using this field to show a range of values (as shown in the screenshot)

How can I import/export the "Initial Value" field?

This does not seem to be possible using Bellekens tool and I tried to do so using MDG Integration for Office but I failed.

Thank you in advance.

Suggestions and Requests / User Guide for MDG for Microsoft Office
« on: December 28, 2020, 03:44:36 pm »

I am new to Sparx EA. The main reason that let me go with the ultimate edition is the MDG Integration for Microsoft Office. So far, I have been unable to use the MDG for Microsoft Office, specifically Excel import/export. I have been using Bellekens' tool instead.

I don't seem to continue with the same edition next year or even recommend it to my organization.

I watched the 17-min video that introduces MDG Integration for Microsoft Office, but it is not enough.

I think it would be helpful to have a detailed User Guide for MDG for Microsoft Office and more video tutorials.

I have to say that I am disappointed.

Thank you,

Hello, q.,

It worked well after installing .Net 3.5, thank you so much.

Automation Interface, Add-Ins and Tools / Re: Export attributes to CSV

Thank you, Uffe for your response.

It's unfortunate that exporting attributes or operations to CSV is not possible  :(

Thank you, q. for looking into this. I will try to download .Net and see how it works.

Should not I have got this error as well while importing?  ::) Importing worked well for me.

Automation Interface, Add-Ins and Tools / Export attributes to CSV

Hello, EA Experts,

I am trying to export a package that includes data types with attributes and stereotypes (shown in the screenshot)

I could not find "Attribute" in the "Available Element Field", does that mean I cannot export attributes to CSV?

Thank you,

Hello, EA experts,

I managed to import data from Excel to EA using Bellekens tool but I could not figure out how to export.

I get this error when I try to export.

I would appreciate your help.

Thank you so much Geert and q. for your valuable insights.

Now, I got your point, Geert. Since I am in the US, I assumed that zip codes are always numeric values that's what I wanted to use integer.

You raised a very good point about calculating with an age!

I laughed out loud on your comment to q.  ;D

Thank you,

Geert and Richard, thank you.

Geert's tool worked very well for importing enumerations and their associalted attributes.

I used your tool Geert and it worked perfectly to import several enumerations with several attributes. I could not manage to import Data Type through. I ended up adding them manually. I am looking forward to using your tool in other use cases.

Thank you so much!

The only issue I see is that you have modelled the zipcode as an integer.
I think you should only use numeric types if it makes sense to calculate with them (adding two zipcode values together makes no sense at all). If not use a string with additional constraints.

Thank you so much, Geert for confirming.

I just want to clarify why a zip code should be modeled as a String vs an Integer?
My understanding is that a real number is integer. string is text.
For example, the "age" attribute would be modeled as integer although adding two age values together makes no sense. Correct?

Thank you so much, Geert, Sunshine and Pvickers for yoru responses.

I just want to make sure that I got that correctly. Would you please take a look at the embedded screenshot?

Thank you,

So I'm evaluating the Office integration MDG to import ~ 150K elements including classes, attributes and their dependencies into EA v. 1310.

Hello, Richard,
I am picking up on this topic. Did you manage to import classes with attributes?

Thank you,
