Hello Tucson,

When you say, "Like you used to", what changed between then and now?  (eg. Are you using a different version).

Hello Kevin,

Thanks for the detailed error report.

It is clear that you are using the correct version of MDG (Beta2), and that some of our documentation is out of date.

We have not been able to recreate the problem you are experiencing  - and no one else has reported it.  Are you using the official released version of VS 2005 or a beta?  (We do not support beta builds).

If you are using VS 2005 release - which version, and what locale/country is your computer set up for?

Hello Kevin,

We've had some issues with Beta1 in the area you mentioned, which are much improved in Beta2, due out in the next day or so.

Hello Keith,

The second message is EA's overreaction to an attempt to overwrite an existing file.  We will fix that.

The first error is more sinister, and we have yet to get to the bottom of it.  Basically we ask VS to create a solution items folder for us and sometimes it says yes and sometimes it doesn't.

Could you confirm that trying to create a non-existant file succeeds eventually?

Hello,

Yes it will be a separate product, I do not know yet whether there will be an upgrade path from MDG link.

General Board / Re: Source Safe - Configure for Entire Project?

The latest releases of EA now support a feature that allows sub-packages to be versioned.

Does this extra granularity solve people's problems?

Is there more required?

Yes, it is that difficult.

It was envisaged that people would want to version only a few packages in a model, and that being able to specify the name of the export file was more import than quickly marking a package as version controlled.

Another EA user, Eric Tremblay, made it his mission to figure out what was wrong and he emailed me instructions on how to fix it  :D

A fix will be available in release 728

We have tested EA with PVCS and had no problems in this area.

PVCS should have registered itself in:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SourceCodeControlProvider\InstalledSCCProviders

Dear Mr Hansen,

Thank you for helping us finding this bug.

I have done a check for other, similar bugs and have not found any.

A new version of EA including this fix should be available for download soon
from our website.

The latest version of EA has an interface to SCC-compliant Source Code Control systems including CVS bridges like Igloo and Tortoise.

G'day Philipp,

The message: "Version-controlled file names should not include a path" is just some advice informing you that you cannot specify a full path - all version controlled files go into the folder nominated in the local path setting of the Version Control Options dialog.

>> I just enter a file name without a path, EA crashes...

What message appears?  What SCC provider are you using?  What entries have you put into the Version Control Options dialog box?
