General Board / Re: What is best-way to model System2System integration

I'd guess that interface design is crucial. Whether you go for a service oriented approach or something else depends on too many factors. But I'd guess the effort to define business objects (if you don't overdo that as everybody "knows" what has to go into Customer or Person and the like) will pay off more sooner than later.

Bugs and Issues / Re: Sparx Cloud / FDB Issue

Writing while the image loads -

You must not care about the messages from the check. They had been unavoidable anyway since something had been fishy. That might even happen with tools that more stable than EA (not saying that EA is unstable - it isn't). You should run that check at least once a week in a production  environment. Too bad, EA still does not enforce that (like in *NIX a fsck is forced after several reboots).

P.S. Loading finished. Now I see that's a Cloud-EA message. That's nothing I know about. I was talking about a "normal" integrity check.

General Board / Re: BDD Diagrams imported via MDZIP file

Transporting non-UML (like SysML) between different tools is even more difficult than exchange of pure UML. Even the latter often fails due to different interpretations of the standard.

Try Google it has lots of colored pictures.

I'd guess you'll have a hard time mimicking the pin (as shown) with shape script. It has only limited graphical abilities.

I guess you can't and need to go to the DB directly. Use Respository.Execute("your SQL") to do that. Try on a test DB first!

A MDG diagram has something stored in t_diagram.styleEx. E.g. an Archimate diagram has stored
Code: [Select]
MDGDgm=Archimate2::Business; Make a
Code: [Select]
SELECT * FROM t_diagramto identify your SysML diagram (I don't have that installed). Then patch a normal class diagram by adding the appropriate string to StyleEx.

This is stored in t_diagram.ShowForeign. Pretty mixed up, isn't it?

Uml Process / Re: Model Validation - OCL? + Solution
« on: October 01, 2018, 11:07:54 pm »
EA does (if at all) only syntax checking of eventually provided OCL. But it does not execute it. AFAIK there are only academic tools for using OCL. Never saw something in concrete projects.

What I did in the past was to write a (lengthy) script to check model rules and take according actions.

SysML is a MDG which means it might come with own add-ins. Not sure about SysML since I don't have it in my installation. If there are constraints defined in SysML which the MDG does not support you might report a bug. I can't speak for SysML issues since I have only little expertise in that area.

However, if you are after a quick solution you have to go the add-in way.

Simon, looking at the latest UML editions you see that diagram exchange has been added. Likely because they recognized that the semantics of diagrams should be detailed as there's a need for it. So that widget looks like a useful semantic extension that should go into a standard.

q.

72
BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT THING is to provide a "widget" to indicate that there are hidden arcs on a given diagram.  We created our own to do that. It is vitally important that the view is informed that they are NOT seeing the "full story".
This should be part of the next UML standard. Unfortunately the mills at OMG grind event slower than those at Sparx.

Automation Interface, Add-Ins and Tools / Re: Scripting diagram filters?

Look into t_xref. Entries with Type="DFilter" should contain what you're looking for.

I guess that's fixed. However, you can write your own query representing the results in a list as well. Use the Query Builder to issue an according SELECT.

Not sure about your background, but you can prevent connector creation by using the EA_OnPreNewConnector subscription in an add-in.
