Agreed, I would see value in this feature which would help with visual business discussions.

Yep, I third that!

Funny, I just stumbled accross this feature today and the help guide as I had to exclude a part of the process for the techies, but not delete is as the business want it there for a future iteration, but not forgotten. Very powerful feature to help with visualations.

Any extra capability in this feature will certainly be used.

Hi All,

I am trying to use the out of the box "Print to PDF..." function within the EA Client and this is crashing my windows laptop. Is this a current issue?

I have the following details:
EA Corporate Edition V11 Build 1105
Windows 7 64 bit Service Pack 1

Any help would be great!

Hi All,

I have used the PM function twice, but have not received a response. The first time was a while ago and the second recently.

The PM's sit in my Outbox within my view.

So does the PM Functionality work in this Forum?

Hi Patrick,

Also try the community resources library, access from Sparx home page or here:

Being new, you may want to sign up. There have been some good resources put up recently which help provide real world examples.

Hi Ronald,

This is how I implement the behavior in my world.

I use the relevant element and hide/remove the text, I then drag the respective diagram onto my diagram with the link element. I drop diagram as "Hyperlink", Right click on the link and select "Hide Icon".

I then re-position the text next to the element.

The modeler can click on the text and navigate to the next diagram in EA or the customer can click on the text and navigate to the next diagram in the HTML export.

Hope this helps!

Hi There,

Select your activity element, right click and Select "New Child Diagram", then untick "Composite"

Hope that helps!

Wow, Thanks for the reply KP.

Seems like a bit of time and effort, so copy, paste and rename packages it is.

Hi Monsieur,

Just wondering how you are progressing on this as I am also struggling to understand how to implement a similar need.

My Goal is to provide two BPMN template models for spec 1.1 and 2.0 for my organisation.
  - For example when the user selects Ctrl + Shift + M, then selects BPMN spec, the new model templates are available next to the Out of the Box ones.

I have created the packages and exported the model to XMI, but I am lost with this MTS step??? Where is this file???

How do we enable the model templates to be seen by the wizard.

The model templates provided out of the box are a good guide for training and newbies, but I now want to extend this for my organisation and leverage the benefit and enable standards of practice.

At this stage, I am think a model template package in my architecture repository is a more simple option. :-/

General Board / Set Font Size - Add New Element From Toolbox
« on: December 04, 2014, 04:46:33 pm »
Hi All,

I have searched the forum post for this, but unable to resolve my little problem.  I have built a model and set out my placeholder elements and now starting to scale out my diagram.

My problem is when I add a new element from the toolbox, I have to manually apply the font size.

I understand I can select CTRL - A to select all and apply the fonts at once, but I am finding this requires me to go back and resize elements after I have progressed and reapply relevant cosmetic layout.

So, my question is can you set a default font size for elements when they are added from the toolbox?

Thanks in advance,

Hi Thelonius,

Thanks for your reply.

The capability is introducing a new software technology which in my view will be a vehicle to assist and enable the business to manage information in its business processes in a new way and enable compliance with standards to establish good practice.

Similar to introducing a case management, project management or software like solution. We have not selected a product as that is part of the journey of defining and building the capability. I want this to be business lead change, not a IT lead change. ie. been there done that  :)

As for meta model, I understand where you are coming from, but my main intent is to use my position an knowledge to establish a model which will help facilitate the required conversations. It is been a while since I have used Visio and don't have time to wrestle with it..... :-/

Based on your last message, looks like I have to build a hybrid model to achieve the outcome I am seeking.

Thanks again!

Update - Change in a approach:

Phases (BPMN Activity - Stereotype set to process)
Packages of Work (BPMN Activity)
Milestones - (BPMN Gateway)
Timeline - (BPMN Pools to demonstrate quarters by vertical partition, not elegant, but working atm)
Disciplines - (BPMN Activity - Stereotype set to process)
