General Board / Error when importing a locally edited master doc

I have encountered an error when attempting to import a locally edited master document package to the corporate server. Here are the steps to reproduce:
 
(1) Create a master document package in an EA project located on the corporate server. Also create a package (such as a requirements package) that is located outside the master document package.
(2) Make a local copy of the project by going to Data Management -> Project Transfer.
(3) In the local project, add a new package under the requirements package.
(4) In the local project, add a new model document to the master document and drag the package created in step #3 to the model document.
(5) Export the locally edited master document package and requirements package to separate XMI files.
(6) Import the locally edited master document and  requirements package to the corporate server. The requirements package can be imported, but when you try to import the master document, you get an error message that the DTD references an ID that is not defined in the document.

Please help! This is a showstopper issue for us.

General Board / Spacing in RTF report

I have an issue with spacing in the RTF reports. I completed a master document, which is made up of 8 model documents, each model document having a different RTF template while the master document also has a different RTF template. I made sure that all the extra spaces were removed from each RTF template and the master template.

The problem is that when I run the RTF report on the master document, a page break is inserted after each section, which coincides with each model document.  I assume that there's a default setting in EA that inserts page breaks after each model document or section.  Whhere is that setting and how do I change it?

I am currently using EA V7.1 and I am having a problem with the headers and footers in the generated RTF report, more specifically I add headers and footers and cannot see them.

I am working with a master document that contains 8 model documents and have ried 2 different approaches:

1.  I tried adding the headers and footers to the master document template  but I cannot see the headers and footers in the resulting generated RTF report.

2.  Next I tried to add the headers and footers to all the model documents as well but again the headers and footers are not visible in the resulting generated RTF report.

How can I correctly add headers and footers to my RTF report so that the generated RTF report shows the headers and footers?

I followed your instructions and checked the Overwrite document fields option in all templates including the master template. What do I do now?

It still doesn't resolve my issue - the model document order in the master document is alphabetical and still doesn't match the order in the Project Browser.

Help, I am at my wits end!

Thank you for your reply. I selected the master document, hit F8, then checked the "Overwrite Document Fields" checkbox on the Advanced tab. Nothing happened. I checked to ensure the "Overwrite Document Fields" checkbox was still checked and it wasn't, it had unchecked itself.

Can you please offer me step by step guidance on what to do? I have the master document built with 8 model documents and 1 template for the master and 1 separate template for each model document and the problem is that the order of the model docs in teh Project Browser is not reflected in themaster document, the model doc order in the master doc is different and I need it to reflect the order in teh Project Browser like it should.

General Board / Master Document Solution in EA V7.1 Beta

I tried the new Master Document solution in EA V7.1 Beta.  I built a Master document using 8 model documents, saved the model, exported the package containing the master document and model documents to XMI then imported this package into a second EA project. This is where the problem occurred - the model document order in the Project Browser of the second project is different than the model document order in the Master document. I tried recreating the master document but the same problem occurred. The only difference between projects is that I created the first project on my local drive while the secpond project where I imported the master document to was on our corportae server. Additionally, the resulting generated document has a lot of tags and gibberish in it and is unusable.

My question is how do I re-order the model document order in the Master document to match the model document order in the Project Browser (I thought the order in the master document was controlled by the Project Browser order automatically). Is this a bug or is it something that is easily fixable?

Can anyone please help?

I need a method that imports the Normal.rtf template into EA and I can't find one. I only found a way to import an XML file into EA.  I am working on creating the Normal.rtf template used by teh RTF Genrator according to our company's internal standards and styles. However, the documentation states that you can import the Normal.rtf template but when I try to do that it only allows imports of XML files.

Is there a method to import the Normal.rtf template into EA? I even looked in the EA defaults directory where all document templates are stored and only found XML files there.

If you can offer any guidance I would appreciate it since I have exhausted all options.

open up the tagged values dialog while you select an element. after that they display on their own when you select tagged Values form teh View menu.

I defined a list of tagged values for one projet in EA and now want to use the same tagged values for a few other EA projects.

How can I export these tagged values from one EA project to another? I tried using the Export Reference Data functionality but tagged Values wasn't one of the available choices to export in the Export Reference Data dialog.

General Board / Controlling Output Location for RTF Documents

I am having an issue with the output location for RTF generated documents. I would like to set up the specific location that the RTF document is saved in and I would like that location to show up everytime I generate my RTF document.

For example, I am using a model document to generate each RTF document from. This document has the same name as the template I am using and the same name as the RTF document output.  So, in the Generate RTF Documentation dialog box, the model document is called Business Requirements (in the Model Document field), the template is called Business Requirements (in the Use Template field) and the Output to File field should be Business Requirements.RTF.  After I generate an RTF report for another package/model document and I go back to generate the RTF report for the Business Requirements model document the Output to File field no longer shows the Business Requirements.RTF document. How can I make those associations stick so that the correct document displays in the Output to File field everytime I generate a report for a specific model document?
