Hi,

Some discussion in [size=13]Generalization vs Realization[/size] and [size=13]Interfaces don't update[/size] may help clarify why they aren't shown.

It would not be correct to include Realization indicators with Generalization indicators.  However, that having been said, some additional adornment for "hidden" Realizations would be useful.  (Perhaps they could be shown down the left hand side...)

Sorry, I can't be more specific than the following since I'm not writing a book on how to do it in C#, but...

I didn't find it that hard to translate the VB examples to C#

Start with the C# example from the Web Site.

If you have specific questions, I or someone else can try to answer them.

Hi Priyajeet,

Since I needed to output to a predefined XSD specification and convert internal EA values to predefined ones, I just used the normal automation mechanisms and wrote the file directly.  I didn't use this mechanism.

BTW: Where is the C# example you mentioned?

after some delay working with EA I downloaded 6.1 / 390
and I downloaded the BPMN add-in
the add-in installer works well, says all is OK
but I didn't see anything about BPMN if I open
EA.
what could be wrong ?
or have I to install something else ?

But why a comma separated list? Okay - there's likely no stereotype with a comma inside, but I'd expect a collection for things like that. Am I wrong?

No you're not wrong, but then you'd NOT expect two ways of getting one of the stereotypes and one way to get the rest.

It's the EA UI (Unique Interface) again, this time at the automation level.

I suspect the UML specification precludes a comma as a legitimate character in a stereotype name.

I could not find this in the documentation. How can I get hold of multiple stereotypes via the automation interface? I only found the primary stereotype as a string. Nothing about a collection of stereotypes.

They're in:
    eaElement.GetStereotypeList()
as a comma separated list (as I recall)

PS. We have heard the calls for a more defined syntax for the intermediary file.  Part of the difficulty is that the grammar actually obscures the structure instead of making it clearer.

You need to export via a Rose Unisys XMI export Add-In.

If you can sucessfully export then you can usually import sucessfully.

It definately saves the auto counter to the database, and in a quick test between two users here it just worked.  So I'm not sure what the problem would be.

Good question. I would have expected the last counter in a table. If you don't share that table, it's clear why it won't work. So probably you should tell how you share the repository.

I'd just like to clarify something though.

I'm not an expert on XMI, but my understanding is that although Visio does export to XMI, the XMI produced is not sufficient to reconstruct the full model.

So, you can't really take an XMI model from Visio into any other tool in any useful fashion.

Just don't know XML so don't understand what is wrong. In diagram there is about 15 classes.

I've just had a quick look at the Visio website.   It seems you can export from Visio to XMI, but you can't go from XMI to Visio:

Unfortunately it s a common misconception that just because something is in XML it is universally usable.  XML is like the ability to speak.  If I speak Russian and you speak Basque, we can't actually communicate.

To transport models between tools you need a common language.  That language is called XMI (XML for Model Interchange).  It is a form of XML just as Russian and Basque are both languages.

So, looks like you're out of luck.
