Automation Interface, Add-Ins and Tools / Re: multilingual report
« on: February 15, 2021, 05:45:14 pm »
I know that you can't.

I am making an educated guess here and saying that the reason is there is nowhere you can specify which language you want the diagram rendered in, so the system cannot pick up the appropriate translated element name  to use. In Notes, you specify which language you are using, and in Properties the translated name is picked up to match the language you select in report generation, but there is no equivalent option to specify the diagram's language.

I could be wrong, and if I am I hope my learned brothers and sisters of Sparx will correct me.

Unfortunately I cannot open any links to external sites in Forum posts.

All I can say is that when I select a Package containing Classes and then select the Generate All option as you did, all the Classes in the Package are listed in the dialog, selected (highlighted in blue) for code generation. I don't know why your experience is different to mine.

For the first question, select the 'Configure > Model > Options' ribbon option. That displays the 'Model Options' dialog. Click on the 'Source Code Engineering' item, and on the 'Code Generation' page set 'Python' in the 'Default Language for Code Generation' drop-down field.

For the second question, I don't know off hand what you should or should not see in the dialog. I can't see the screenshot and I don't know what object you selected or whether the option is appropriate to that object.

General Board / Re: Using DB repository - how to find my recent diagrams?

It's under the Start > Desktop > Design ribbon option, then select the Focus option and the Revisit tab.

I will take a guess here and say that a diagram is a fixed display. It exists as it is, and would be captured in an export. A Chart is generated anew every time it is opened, so perhaps exists in an empty-frame state until it is opened and populated.

I'm sure you can send an email to Sparx Support to ask for an explanation of what is happening, without saying "This is a bug!" Based on that discussion you might decide that a feature request is appropriate, to get ExportPackageXMIEx to open and populate the chart before exporting it. I have no idea if that is at all possible, but the email conversation might inform you better.

Personally, I couldn't tell you. If you send an email directly to Sparx Support, it will go into the official system and land on someone's desk with a meaty thump, and that person will be obliged to respond to you.

Sorry, I read this line in your post:

The idea is to have a set of elements in our library that represent the azure services and components we use.

And I thought you wanted a constant group of elements to work from.

23
Could you use a Template Package?

24
Is it this one?

https://www.sparxsystems.com/enterprise_architect_user_guide/15.2/model_domains/sysml_ports_direction.html

You actually create the connectors on the Block Definition diagram, and they show up on the IBD.

General Board / Re: Coloring frame elements

Four diagrams containing instances of the same elements would work, but it might be simpler to just set the local appearance of each element on each diagram, say Class X is red on diagram 1, blue on diagram 2 and so on. To be honest, I'm not sure how you would meaningfully represent risk, cost, effort and business value separately just by the colour of the element. I would have thought that the content of the elements would be different in each case. Maybe just have a different diagram background in each case, simply to highlight the risk information, the cost information, etc.

Does this get you any further?

Element/object names (and Aliases) are manually translated in the Properties window, Translation tab. The fields there are picked up from the Translations page in the Model Options window. So if you have selected to translate Notes into French, English and Italian, there will be three fields in the Properties window for an element, into which you type the French,English and Italian translations of the element name.

Does that help you?

From the (yet to be published) Help:

If you are importing the user IDs from a Windows Active Directory, do not complete any user detail fields on this dialog, but select the 'Accept Windows Authentication' checkbox and go to the Import User IDs from Active Directory Help topic. Note that the option 'Allow non-domain users (insecure)' will, if selected, also allow auto-login of a user who is not a user of the domain. If the option is not selected and the user is not a user of the domain, the auto-login is aborted. The option defaults to unselected when security is being enabled.

Could you try this? Select the Specialize > Technologies > Manage-Tech ribbon option and see if the Basic UML 2 Technology line (first in the list) has the Enabled box checked.

Are you using a brand new Use Case diagram or an existing one?

I don't know if this check would be of any relevance, but not having the basic UML technology selected is the only thing I have experienced that stops diagram-specific UML Toolbox pages displaying when you have the diagram open.

Uffe,

What Eve said is correct, but I also checked with Tom O'Reilly the Business manager and he said:

"Nothing stopping them from developing and selling an add-in, they don't need a partnership with us.
They can't bundle EA or any of our files
They can't use EA as a server component to do 'things' for multiple people under one license key (but this part and the second point are in our EULA).
If they would like to reach out regarding what clause they think they might have a problem with, I can take a look at it."

Either write to the email address that Geert gave you ([email protected]) or post here and one of us will ensure that Tom gets your post.

I can clean up the typos in the legal section but I can't change any statements. I will make sure that Tom is aware of your comments there.
