Automation Interface, Add-Ins and Tools / Re: EA Repository As A Service?
« on: September 23, 2016, 10:34:48 pm »
Well, the very valuable stuff you provide as open source is ok to be used in enterprises.

But a service like that, has the risk that you might give up you EA guru existence and start following e.g. an Indian guru which give you the ultimate epiphany.

And 24/7 is also an issue.

Yes, such a business case might work.
You can double your time by add 7 nights! ;D

Anyhow it will not work if you do it as single person.

Marcelino,
Do you feel comfortable not being able to restore after a disaster?

You should have some DB backups or e.g. copies of your DB by transferring to eap files, aren’t you?

I do not get you!
To what do you export the sequence diagram?

Hi Rich,
it seems to me you assume, that someone host a service what you can use to store your repositories.

This is not the case. It is not someone, it is you to have to do that.

The cloud server service is a little application you install on any kind of server (physical, virtual) on your equipment or on equipment e.g. provided by Amazon.

So to get it running you need to get from somewhere a DB server and a server to install the EA cloud service.
Once done, the EA cloud service (program) communicates to the DB over ODBC and your EA client communicates to the EA cloud service via http rather than directly to the DB over ODBC.

Uml Process / Re: Requirements model vs User Stories in scrum tool
« on: September 22, 2016, 10:41:49 pm »
Hi querty!
My message I want to state is: That following some methods, guidelines and approaches is good when it helps. But the follower should never come to the point to follow those methods, guidelines and approaches as a machine.

So if e.g. a methods, guidelines and approaches tell me I should create user stories and  throw those away, I do not just throw away, but I switch on my brain and start thinking whether it is good  or bad to follow this methods, guidelines and approaches in my concrete scenario.

Defining without concrete knowledge of the concrete piece, that it should be thrown away is some kind of arrogance.

If you have something, you are sure you do not need in future, throw it away.

Do not let decide a person having no idea what the concrete thing is, to throw it away even it this person is having the most accepted reputation regarding your principle stuff on this globe.

General Board / Re: Simple statistics

A simple way (whatever simple is) you have on project level. You find that feature under “Poject/Status/Tab Project Statistics.
So, a simple way to do that on package level might be to export/import the package in an empty project.

You can also manipulate those things on element basis.

Select an element on your diagram then open the context menu, press Features & Properties/Feature and Compartment Visibility… or just press (Ctrl+Shift+Y).
Maybe this solves your problem.

Just to bring the main part of that issue to the end!
Clearing the audit lock finally solves the problem being not able to do the transfer.

416
Yes, would be!
Our projects do not have nights at all!

417
Yes, I agree.
I just wait a few days to see if Sparx give some feedback.

418
Thank you both!
I asked our project responsible and indeed they have enabled audit log (more by mistake).

It is still not clear to me why 800 MB with audit logs can contain 1 GB audit logs, or in other words, how 800 MB can contain 1GB.
Anyhow, if clearing and disabling the audit log will solve that issue I am not keen to get behind that mystery.

Do you have also an idea about my “one SQL select transaction” question.

It is just not clear to me if we should switch our users to read only when transferring, to avoid model inconsistency.

You mean the internal model baselines are stored in the bincontent2 and the bincontent2 field has restrictions to be << 2GB, right?

I saw that the BinContent2 is of field type OLE-Object that is limited to 1 GB.
However if the whole thing is ~ 800 MB the baseline parts should not be > 800 MB. Further on I belief to remember that the baselines are stored somewhere else.

Could be that the whole model is stored in that t_snapshot field before the data goes to the final tables. And maybe this whole model OLE exceeds the 1GB limit for some reasons.

Automation Interface, Add-Ins and Tools / Re: SYSMOD MDG, release V2. or...
« on: September 15, 2016, 06:14:41 pm »
Hello Helmut,
not sure, but I assume the download is V2.0 even the MDG states V1.0.
I looked on SYSMOD a while ago, but without verifying if the MDG fully complies with SYSMOD.

Contacting LieberLieber might clarify this.

I personally decided to do my own thing after looking on all that.
