Ah, yes, I haven't been playing in that area.

I can select by a substring in Keywords to include or exclude packages and (I think) entities in the gernated document view. (See link).
You can insert the Keywords field in generated documents.

Paulo, you are absolutely correct that it is categorisation I am looking for.
Simon, I agree modelling both Classification and Categorisation is best.

But here's the thing you can help me with...

My scenario is that I am managing requirements.
I must be able to generate a view of the requirements model as a word document.
For example:
  • A requirement has a classification 'requirements level' (e.g. Must, Should, May)
  • A requirement has a category 'platform' (e.g. IaaS, PaaS, SaaS)
  • A requirement only has one 'requirement level', but may apply to more than one 'platform'.

In the document I must be able to display the requirement's requirement level, and the platforms the requirement applies to.
I must be able to select the contents of the document based on platform.
For example the requirement is presented in a tablular format, with columns for
  • Requirement Id (we use Alias)
  • Requirement name
  • Requirement description (Note)
  • Requirement level (?)
  • Requirement platforms (?)

Can you point me to an exemplar of how I can achieve this?

And now something that appears to work - and is being tested:
Code: [Select]
SELECT
t_package.Package_ID AS ExcludePackage,
t_package.Name as Package_Name,
t_object.Name,
t_object.PData5 as Keyword,
t_object.Object_ID
FROM t_object, t_package
WHERE t_package.Package_ID = #PACKAGEID#
AND t_object.Object_ID = #OBJECTID#
AND NOT ((t_object.PData5 IS NULL) OR (t_object.PData5 LIKE '#WC#cloud#WC#'))

I think I am getting close thanks to this helpful post

Code: [Select]
SELECT
t_object.ea_guid AS CLASSGUID,
t_object.Object_Type AS CLASSTYPE,
t_Package.Name as Package_Name,
t_object.Name,
t_object.PData5 as Keyword,
t_object.Object_ID
FROM t_object, t_package
where t_object.package_id = t_package.package_id
and ((t_object.PData5 IS NULL) OR (t_object.PData5 LIKE '#WC#cloud#WC#'))

General Board / View Query Builder query as SQL

Is it possible view a query builder query as SQL?

I'm trying to develop a query for a document along the lines of

Keywords IS NULL OR Keywords LIKE "<value> OR Keywords LIKE "<anothervalue>"

thanks

This looks really useful to me, I need a similar query where I can filter elements in a model document to include elements where a tag does not exist, the tag is empty, or the tag has a specific value.

But I'm seeing an error (13.0)
"The Microsoft Jet Database engine cannot find the input table or query 't_object'.

Ignore this, I think I had a connectivity issue

General Board / Generate documents based on element tag

Has any generated document by using tags?

I've got the idea of retricting the elements in a document by generating a document using tagged values.

For example the model document only generated from elements where to tags are specified, or one of a specific set of tags is applied to the element?

Bugs and Issues / Re: Document generation image cropping

Hmmm, I've just tripped over this (again?) having been upgraded to W10.
Diagram zoom to best scale makes no difference whether set or reset.
Chaning from Metafile to bitmaps made the difference.
Anyone else had this experience since the original poster.
This affected both impages in generated documentation AND Published Images saved to file and clipboard.
