Automation Interface, Add-Ins and Tools / Re: Possible to Export to Excel?
« on: November 16, 2007, 10:56:59 am »
Kchoi,

May I suggest that you download the free 20 day evaluation copy of Time Architect v1.1 from http://www.timearchitect.net?

As well as being a project and time management tool for EA, Time Architect offers a very powerful sort, filter and analysis function (and more...).  From this data grid it is possible to export the grid to Excel including the element notes.

From here you can sort and filter your requirements by all of the standard EA tags before you export to Excel.

  • Download and install Time Architect.  There are 2 versions of the installer depending on whether you have .net 2.0 installed or not.
  • Open your project in EA
  • Select the package that you wish to export to Excel (can export child packages too).
  • Open Add-in>Time Architect>Draw Gantt chart.
  • If you want child packages too, then check the 'Include Child Packages' Option
  • Click the 'Get Gantt Chart - Element View' button.
  • When complete you will see a Gantt Chart (you can ignore this for now!)
  • Click on the grid icon in the Time Architect toolbar - to the left of the ? icon
  • Filter and sort as needed
  • Click the arrow to the right of the grid icon
  • Click the 'Export Grid to Excel with notes' icon - 2nd one.

You now have everything you need in Excel

Now explore TA... :)

Hope this helps!  Once installed, this should get your data out to Excel in about 2 minutes (depending on the number of requirements!)

Any questions please feel free to ask.

All the best,

Matt

Automation Interface, Add-Ins and Tools / Re: Icons in Addin Menus
« on: June 22, 2007, 01:33:41 am »
Folks,

thanks for the input.  As mentioned it was only really to add polish to the add-in.  It is not critical to the functionality just makes the UI a better experience.

Thanks for the help.

Automation Interface, Add-Ins and Tools / Icons in Addin Menus
« on: June 21, 2007, 04:48:26 am »
Hi all,

we are currently trying to polish off an add-in and would like to add icons to the menus we are generating in the add-in.

Is there a way to do this?  Can't find anything in the notes or the forum.

Many thanks,

Matt

Automation Interface, Add-Ins and Tools / EA Version and Plug-ins

This may have been answered before - if it has I am sorry but did trawl the forum....

Is there any way for a plug-in to find out what version of EA it is running in?  I have looked through the documentation and have not been able to find anything.

Very grateful for any help on this one,

Matt

Please can someone explain how I get to the diagram behind a hyperlink?

I can see an element with a type of "text" where ever my hyperlinks are and from that I can get the name - which seems to be the same as the hyperlink info, however, what I can't seem to find is how to get to the actual underlying diagram.

Any help will be very gratefully received - I am tearing my hair out here!

Hi there,

it may be a silly question but...

what is the Item that I need to pass into this function?

Surely it should be a straight call - GetTreeSelectedItem() as ObjectType.

Please can someone advise on what I should pass to the function as the documentation is not clear on this.

Very many thanks,

Matt
