V7 Validator seems to be very relaxed
« on: August 06, 2007, 07:37:02 am »
With version 7 the checks performed by the validator seem to have relaxed very much, which I don't understand and leaves me with suspicious feelings.
Helpful warnings such "unrealized port" don't show up again. Actually I don't get any warnings with my models except of a new warning type "unrealized requirement". I like the additional one, but why are the previous ones gone?
Can anyone explain the reason for the changes?

No, I can't. I even was not (really) aware of this feature. But I will see what I get from it. Thanks for the hint anyway :)

Hi Rainer,

Have you submitted a bug report to Sparx on this?

Before you do, check whether the Strict UML Syntax setting has changed on the Tools | Options | Diagram dialog. You should check whether this has any effect on your results.

This is a 'sticky' setting, so it will affect new diagrams.

Mine is unchecked, but I am using a client installation and don't know if this is the default.

Also, I do not know if this is inherited from EABase. If it is, you could likely change it there.

David
No, you can't have it!

Yes, I checked for the Strict UML syntax setting before I put this message into the Forum.
But I have not made new diagrams, I just checked my existing project.
