14 RC - Still hass DPI issues

Well here we go again. Despite numerous bug reports over at least 3 years Sparx are still ignoring HiDpi scaling problems in their product and are about to deliver V14 with the same old issues >:(

Every time I send them bug reports they respond that they have passed it onto development who just ignore them so what's the point? Time to move on I'm afraid.

As I've said, it's an iterative process.

You can choose to look at it that we have ignored the issue, or see that there have been real improvements.

Yes some issues have been 'fixed' but most not and some of those that have been done are bodged, for example by scaling up icons thereby making them blurry instead of providing new icons. If you think these are 'real improvements' then I'm afraid you have let your standards slip.

It is just not good enough.

I have to coin in. My experience with Sparx "bug fixing attitude" is just the same. I'm quite disillusioned.

Long time no post from skiwi. Looks like he gave up :-/

Long time no post from skiwi. Looks like he gave up :-/

He hasn't logged in since October.  I was going to try and get hold of him in RL but I seem to have left all of his contact details in the email system of my last employer.  He also doesn't seem to be working where I though he did.

I know I'm not going to convince you otherwise, but for the sake of anyone else who is interested

I understand that you don't think scaling up icons is appropriate. You'd like every icon in EA to be redrawn for multiple DPI levels. I suggest to you that there are plenty of things in EA where that attention would be better spent. But say we did add icons at different sizes. Maybe we'd end up with 100%, 125%, 150%, 200% and 400%.  It's very unlikely that you would see any icons for 250%, so you're going to be stuck with scaled icons.

When I said real improvements. Multiple people including me, used EA on a high DPI screen. Then documented and had fixed the things that made basic diagramming hard to use. The immediate result was:

There are more along these lines in other builds that are part of 14, but the point is that these are all issues that impact useability, not just the visual side of an icon not looking perfect if you screen capture it and zoom in.
